Parasailing for the very first time was extremely fun and exciting. We first made our way to the parasailing office located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where we awaited instruction. We were then led out to a boat. Where I took my turn going up. After coming down I preceded to watch all my family have their turns. It was for sure my favorite adventure we took while on vacation.
First, we went to the office to sign all the waivers, which made me really nervous for my life. Since we had a long wait, we sat down with the other people who were in our group. I met an elderly man and his wife; they were very polite and friendly. It was their first time parasailing also. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, it was time for us to board the boat. We had to walk across the street and down a long walkway to get to the dock. As we were boarding the boat I almost slipped and fell into the water.
After we were all on the boat we had to go through a beautiful inlet that lead out into the ocean. We were then instructed on how put our life jackets and harnesses on. The instructor decided that I was going to be the first one to go up in the air. I made my way to the front of the boat and sat down on the deck so he could hook the parachute to my harness. Without a warning he let the parachute go and then I was ascending up into the air almost felt like the speed of light! As I was going up, he shook the line to scare me. Finally when I reached 500 feet, I could see the shore line. It was a breath taking view. I could see giant sea turtles and I even saw a shark. I was in the air about 30 minutes. Then I started descending down. When I was close to the boat, he dunked me into the same water where I had just moments earlier seen the shark and the sea turtles. After my turn was over I got to relax and enjoy watching everyone else’s terror turning into enjoyment. My sister was the next one rigged up. I could tell from

I woke up hazed with blurred vision. The right side of my face was dried and burned. The left side of my face was soaked in salt water and blood. I was freaked out and picked up my head and blinked rapidly. I saw nothing but blue for miles and miles, the sky and the water. When I looked down I saw nothing but a small black and orange rubber dingy. I tried to think about what had happened. It was then when I realized I couldn't even remember my own name. Then panic just settled in for some reason I jumped in the water freaking out. I came to my senses and quickly started using all my strength to hurdle myself in the dingy.…

It was about 10:00 and it was time for our free period when we were allowed to go down the slides, the diving boards, or just swim on our own. Three of my buddies said they were going to go off the high dive, I was too shy to speak up about being afraid. I knew it was too little too late now I had to face my fears and just jump. We got in line, and it was as if I was in a trans just staring at everyone climb up the ladder and without hesitation jump and plunge into the icy water. Before I knew it I was on deck and I could feel stomach churning a little bit, as if on cue I heard the splash of Sam and knew it was my turn. I grabbed the metal bars and slowly made my way to the top, I felt like I was a mile off the…

I was watching Iron man but I really was not that into I kept drifting off and thinking what I should do with my day. My older brothers Shawn and Anthony came to the door around 2 in the afternoon and asked me if I wanted to go swimming. I quickly galloped up the stairs and asked my mother if I could go, she said yeah just be safe. So we left and went to a place called the “Rez” it was a place where high school and college kids go to jump off rocks and have a good time, it was a nice area surrounded by…

Fish on! Fish on! We were fishing on Eagle Lake Canada and we were headed to our lucky spot by Bird Turd island it is out in the BIG lake. We are fishing on a windy day, we hit a huge 4 foot wave head on and our Crestliner boat capsized. I quickly grabbed my backpack, in my backpack I had a marine radio, a survival kit, sunscreen, and some extra food. We swam to closest island call Bird Turd island. I looked back, all of my belonging were sinking to the bottom of the lake. We were shipwrecked! I was screaming and screaming and screaming for help but no one could hear me. I heard a boat so I screamed so more and no one was there. I was hoping someone was coming. I stayed there for what felt like hours, so I decided to walk around and look at the island. I came across and tiny little shed.…

We started hiking through a big pasture in all of our wet, cold kayaking gear. After an hour of walking through the pasture, we ended up walking into the jungle which gets thicker the deeper you go into it. It was a very steep hike and we had to cross over two cliffs where we would have died if we had slipped and fallen. I was at the back of the pack of people trudging through the jungle, so it was very muddy and slippery. All of us were slipping and grabbing anything to stay up, and you would usually be grabbing a thorn vine and tearing up your hand. After two hours of trudging through the jungle, we still could not find the campsite, so we circled back around and found a old abandoned farming cabin to sleep in that night. Everyone on the trip thought we would die in that jungle because it was so dangerous. The next morning we went back down to the kayaks and paddled down the rest of the muddy river to the campsite. The Red Cross came the next day and also we made an appearance on multiple Costa Rican…

When Goodie arrived and the wind was strong my friend Gena and I would ask to go on the hobie cat and of course my brother Bertram and his friend Jake would too. So it was set, we were all going on the Hobie together. When Gena and I had our life jackets on and Jake and Bertram got on the boat, we were set Goodie started by asking us if we wanted to go on the trapeze (a wire that holds you up by a special harness) and of course we did. While Gena went on while Bertram, Jake and Goodie managed the boat below. Gena and I thought it would be fun to see how long each of us could stay on the pontoons. Gena was technically cheating because she can balance well and I'm not as graceful.. But the real trouble happened when my pontoon started going a few inches under water. I was so freaked out that I started moving forward to get away from the water but that made it worse. Now the front of the boat was tipping. I was so scared. Gena was on my left laughing her butt off.…

So we decided to go find somewhere to park the boat for lunch. Eventually we found this really cool cave that had plenty of room to put the boat under, and we got out the sandwich stuff. It’s kind of a tradition we have to have sandwiches when we go boating or snowmobiling. So we got out the bread, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, meat, and pickles along with the fruit salad, and Powerades. After I had finished eating I got bored and decided to go for a swim, so I cannon balled in, and the water was even warmer inside of the cave! I just laid back on my lifejacket and floated, it was so…

When we got there we each had to fill out papers clearly stating our medical information but, of course, my parents had to sign too. Once everything had been signed we had to wait about thirty minutes for everyone else to get there. I was furious because we had to wear a stupid life jacket and I complained the whole time, saying stuff like I look stupid in this or I don’t wanna wear it. Finally after a while I had finally gotten over it and enjoyed the gorgeous scenery. After everyone had arrived there was almost over one hundred people! I thought it was going to be a group of about ten. After we went over the rules we had to board a bus to the river itself, which was about forty minutes or so. Once we had made it there we were all told to get into a raft and sit on the edges, but, of course my dad was in charge telling us all what to do. After, we had done a couple of rapids it was finally time for a swim break, right away I had fell out and scraped my knee and to make it even worse the water…

When I woke up that friday I was super excited because I knew that I was leaving the country and going to Paradise. We did some shopping in the morning but we had to be on the cruise by four p.m. When the cab pulled up to the boat my jaw dropped. It was a carnival cruise ship that I thought was the size of the titanic. We boarded the ship and went to our room to relax. The ship had more than thirteen floors and multiple decks and pools. The first day I got lost each time I had to go back to my room because the ship was that big. First they had a life jacket drill which just explained what to do if something was too ever happen to the ship. After that that’s when the deck party began. They had karaoke, dancing and just little meet & greet activates. Next thing you knew it was time for bed and then the next morning is when I woke up in the Bahamas. I thought I was dreaming because it looked like a scene from a movie or a picture from a calendar.…

    Essay On Snowboarding

I was six years old when my father strapped me into my first pair of skis, “Skiing is way more fun than snowboarding. Snowboarding isn’t even a real sport,” he jokingly told me while putting on his own skis. Little did my father know I would later become a snowboarder at the age of twelve, following the example of my mother and two brothers. During my junior year at age sixteen, I joined the brand new snowboarding club at Blackfoot High School. Although the club only functioned for a year, I realized that small, northern towns like Blackfoot Idaho were full of winter sport fanatics. This thought brought a question to my mind; are there schools in the U.S. that have snowboarding as an actual high school sport? After more research on the subject, I found that only a few private boarding schools around the country offer snowboarding as an actual school sport. Public high schools usually include sports that require physical exertion, competition and a way to generate revenue like football, basketball, soccer, baseball, volleyball and much more, so I asked myself; why not snowboarding?…

I saw the rip current open up a few times that day, but by the time it rolled around noon, it was pulling more because the water was going out for low tide. When I saw the raft, I never really put two and two together until the raft got in the rip current. Two kids and their dad were rapidly moving out to sea. I reacted just like we were taught in class; dropping my flag and calling in on the radio. I leaped from my tower to the sand, grabbed my buoy and sprinted down the beach. I did a perry angle and took off into the water, throwing my buoy to the side as I got knee deep in the surf. I porpoise dove through the shallow water, came up and sprinted out to my victims, keeping a close eye on them as I did. By the time I got to them, the dad had abandoned his kids and swam in saving himself. The kids had jumped out of the raft, which was now upside down and proceeded to try swimming the raft in. I told them I was a lifeguard and here to help. The girl, about my age, looked at me as if I were crazy and told me they didn't need any help. I looked at her younger brother, who was tired and panting, and I asked if he was okay. He desperately told me, gasping for a breath, that he needed help. I wouldn't have been able to bring both victims and the raft in, while fighting a rip current. So I firmly grabbed the rope on the raft, with each of them holding, and started to kick. I soon realized I was getting nowhere and still drifting out to sea. Panicking, I scanned the beach for back up. When the lifeguard truck pulled up, I let out a sigh of relief. There were about 5 guards who came hustling out of the truck with buoys to come and back me up. When they reached me, it took some pulling to get everyone in safely raft…

It was a beautiful July day in 2014 when my family and I were camping at Holland Lake with our family friends Kinsey and Lauren. There wasn't a cloud in sight and the sun reflected off the bluish greenish water. The air smelt of smoke and fresh trees. Early in the morning when the campground is quiet you can even hear the waterfall. Holland Lake is a very busy lake with boaters, tubers, water skiers, ect. Since that day was so nice there were a bunch of boats on the lake the waves were huge. Kinsey, Lauren, Alex and I were all pretty close in age but Alex and Lauren were taller so they get the outside of the tube. When we all finished breakfast I changed into my swimming suit speedy fast and rode my bike as fast as I could to my cousins camper, Alex. I had to wait what felt like 5 hours for her to change. Once she was done we waited for Kinsey and Lauren at ¨The Beach¨. Alex and I killed time by talking about how much fun we were going to have…
