My Professional Franchise: Carolina Panthers
My professional franchise of choice is the Carolina Panthers. The original Panther logo was a black panther trimmed in blue consisting of silver face features with a 3/4 view. The panther’s mouth was opened with jagged teeth to reveal a vicious appearance. The Panther’s logo started its transition to the logo of today in 2012. This was the first changes done to the logo since the team entered the National Football League in 1995. It was designed to present a more modern, antagonistic, look. It was designed with the intentions of staying true to the roots of the panther’s delicate updates presenting a tougher, stronger, clearer panther. The symbol represents that the Panthers team will attack their competitors in the final phases of the game

After three seasons the Chip Kelly experiment is over in Philadelphia. It’s no question that the Eagles’ roster is worse now than it was three years ago when Kelly took the helm, and the results on the field back that up. Each season the team averaged fewer points per game and yards per play, while the number turnovers increased. Without doubt Chip Kelly the GM failed Chip Kelly the coach and the entire Eagles’ organization.…

Logos is excellently used in several parts of the film: A few stuck out for being well-backed by facts and logic. In the documentary, Cowperthwaite used a series of video clips where Seaworld had trainers saying false information about orcas’ life span lasting from 25-35 years when earlier in the film an expert on orcas stated that orcas could live until they’re 100. They even had another man state that Seaworld has the fake perception that orcas live until their 25-35 because none of their orcas have lived past that point. The clips following the man’s statement were series of different tour guides, trainers, and “Specialists” saying that orcas have this false life span. There was interviews with actual whale researchers and specialist saying that wild orcas live up to 100 years. The viewer of this documentary is going to believe an actual research or specialist over a simple animal trainer. The former trainers in the film admit to believing what they’re told by SeaWorld and now they know that the information SeaWorld told them was false. Seaworld made another false accusation when trainer Keltie Bryne fell into the pool and was pulled under by the six-ton orca Tilikum. Sealand of the Pacific said she drowned, but many people witnessed her getting pulled under. There were photos and videos, but Sealand continued to make this claim until they were eventually shut down and Tilikum moved to SeaWorld…

The altered American flag could also be acknowledged for the fact that it is the population that builds the corporate businesses into the empires they are today. All of the corporate logos are examples of the businesses with the most say. Nike, influences athletes that they wont be good or cool without it. Camel represents that no one will be calm without a cigarette. They range from Gas/Oil companies, Fast Food, and to pornography. Each one of these logos attracts a different emotion to a different audience; Camel to cigarette smokers, Nike to athletes, McDonalds to fast food eaters. In Oakland, California, October 1966, persons Huey Newton and Bobby Seale established The Black Panther Party (BPP). Huey and Bobby met in the early sixties whilst at Meritt Junior College in West Oakland (Wood 1, Rajguru 2, The Black Panther Party for Self-Defense). Both of these men were active in Black politics for several years before they came together to form the Panthers. (same site as previous sentence). The “Black Panther Party for Self Defense” was formed to protect Black individuals and neighborhoods from police brutality (ushistory.org). This party was based off of the Black Power Movement. The Black Power Movement was also formed in 1966 and was rooted from the ideas of Malcom X who was a very insperational person to the Black Panther Party. This movement stressed the self-sufficiency, self-assertion, and Black pride (13.3 US Packet). During the time of the 1970’s the black power movement had a great social impact on minorities because the Panthers showed that they were supporters amongst Blacks in the major cities by 90% (Wood 1, Rajguru 2, The Black Panther Party for Self-Defense). During the March Against Fear in Mississippi in 1966…

For my first logo, of course, this meant looking back towards the extensive history of Marvel as an esteemed institution of comics for inspiration; using as reference one of their most recognizable publishing logos, this one from the 90’s, seemed a natural step in the right direction, and allowed me to invoke that ever-important sense of nostalgia, while also making things neat, concise, and highly presentable for a more contemporary age of filmmaking. From here, I thought it was best to consider the films themselves; rather, how different each entry in Marvel’s vast “cinematic universe” was stylistically, and how each could stand to benefit from a singular logo which reflects their individual interests at the forefront, while naturally tying them together under the same umbrella. These end results, generally speaking, pay tribute to the classics of cinema and legendary entries in the sci-fi and fantasy genres, those which easily proved the most fundamental in the creation of the superhero movie as we know it to be. More than that, however, I knew what needed to be all too apparent in each of these designs was an unmistakable swagger, boldness, and confidence, in their past, present, and future works…

When I had discovered this, I had to do some digging to find out the meaning behind the twin tailed temptress. In Starbucks history, they based the siren on Norse and Greek mythology, claiming “she was as seducing as their coffee..”( Examiner.com, 2012). This was exceptionally clever and intriguing, and I patted myself on the back for figuring this one out. There was an exceptional “Oh, wow!” response from my classmates, many of which hadn’t considered any mythological influences behind their favourite caffeine stores at all.…
