asdflkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk- kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk The topic about marijuana legalazation in the united states is a very hot topic. Many people think that marijuana is a harmful drug, the truth is it is the less harmfull of both drugs and alcohol and tabacco. And with so many states legalizing the medical use and two states legalizing it recreationally the future of marijuana appears to be a bright one. The amount of tax dollars marijuana would raise would be emense. If every state in the U.S. legalized marijuana we could cut out the national debt in just a few years if it took that long.
The amount of money wasted on the war on drugs is incredible. The total amount of money spent on the war on drugs over the years is $51,000,000,000. That’s all the tax payers money going right down the drain. The war on drugs is a complete waste of time and a waste of the tax payers good hard earned money. Not to mention the lives that are taken everyday while defending and protecting the the united states border with mexico. California alone would generate $1,400,000,000 in tax revenue if it taxed its medical marijuana. Imagine if every state did this. We would be out of debt in no time at all.
Marijuana is also a miracle drug, many people around the world turn to marijuana for treat ment for their illnesses. Marijuana helps a variety of different illneses. For example it treats cancer patients, dementia, diabetes, epilepsy, glaucoma, and finally tourette syndrome. Most of the time for medical purposes the marijuana is turned into some type of edible or droplets. Some people though still smoke it, its which ever method the consumer prefers. Test done on mice show that marijuana kills cell growth of cancer. The marijuana slows or sometimes can completely stop the growth of tumor and the blood vessels they need to grow. Studies show that marijuana could actually target just the cancer cells and keep all the other cells healthy. Another study on mice showed that cannabinoids may protect from inflammation of the colon and could help prevent colon cancer. Tetrahydracannabinol or (THC) was found to help prevent liver cancer and once again stop the growth of the tumor while keeping the others from developing into cancer cells.
The main psyco active part of marijuana (THC) helps to stimulate appetite. Which could be very helpful with cancer patients doing chemo therapy. Chemo therapy causes the patients to be sick at there stomachs and makes them not want to eat. If smoked marijuana could help them grow their appetites and might make them want to eat. Stimulating the appetite could be usefull when trying to fight bulemia and anorexia. These two disorders are eating disorders which could be solved with a simple case of the munchies, smoking the marijuana would make their appetite grow and make it almost resistable to not take a bite. Marijuana can also be used for pain relief, cannabinoid receptors have been studied in the brain, spinal cord, and nerve endings throughout the body. Cannabinoids have been studied for anti-inflammatory effects that may play a role in pain relief. Studies show that people who inhale cannabis had improved mood, improved sense of well being, and less anxiety. Cannabis droplets placed under the tongue show results of improved sleep quality.
Marijuana should be legalized recreationally because of the waste of the taxpayers money once again. Think about it, how many millions of dollars does the united states spend a year on housing inmates. The estimated amount of money spent on housing inmates arrested for pot alone is 1 billion dollars. And is smoking pot really a punishable crime? Many people think that people arrested for pot are being done wrong. Whats wrong with smoking pot if your not hurting anyone or anything. They say its bad for your health, well so is alcohol and its still legal to buy and sell. The truth is marijuana is better for you then alcohol counsumption. Alcohol causes some people to make rational decisions that they wouldn’t have made if they werent drinking. There have been many lives that could have been saved if they wouldn’t have drank alcohol. But yet its legal and pot is still a schedule 1 narcotic. There is not one recordable instance where marijuana was found to have hurt anyone or caused anyone to die. The same cant be said for alcohol, alcohol kills thousands of people each year and destroys the morale fibers of familys all around the world.
Needless to say pot is not the bad thing that people think it is. If everyone knew the good marijuana legalazation could do for not just us but our whole country the world would be a lot better place. The nation wouldn’t be in debt. And people wouldn’t spend years of their lives in jail for something as simple as marijuana. The tax payers money wouldn’t be spent on housing people in jail and wasted on fighting the mexican drug cartell for no reason at all. The marijuana use rate hasn’t went down at all. Its actually risen which is a sign that all this war on drugs is just a giant waste of the tax payers money. Which should infuriate any good tax paying citizen. Marijuana should be legal because our country would benefit from it and the people that need it for medicine wouldn’t worry about if their going to be able to get their medicine tommorow.

Cannabis is the main ingredient in marijuana. The National institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) reported that its effect on the body is just like any other natural made chemical in the body. The benefits range from treating simple headache to slowing down cancer cells. Drugs sold over the counter are more dangerous than marijuana yet those drugs are approved and are sold. Donald Abrams, chief of hematology-oncology at San Francisco general hospital, has done more research on marijuana than anyone in the United States (Weil, 127). He concluded in his research that inhaling cannabis can help reduce pain associated with nerve damage and can also increase effect of opiate pain relievers as well help patients sleep. This is greatly important because of how tough nerve damage can be on a person. They are usually recommended to use over the counter pain relief pills but if marijuana is stronger in relieving pain as well as helping them sleep more calmly why would anyone decline. Another usage for marijuana is that the cannabinoids have an ability to relieve chronic pain which included nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy (Park). Cancer is something that troubles every human because currently the current treatments to battle it are very costly on the human body physically and mentally. Chemotherapy is so frightening that some people are even tempted not to try to that method. If they were told about marijuana,…

    Cannabis and Marijuana

Marijuana was first used for medicinal purposes dating back as early as the 1600’s. However, a law was passed in 1930, which banned the substance. Since then we have been fighting a never-ending war on drugs that has estimated to be over a trillion dollar failure, and we have nothing to show for it. There are many different takes on legalizing marijuana nation-wide but some states are not convinced yet. There are two main views on legalizing cannabis. One is the government view, which believes if marijuana was taxed like alcohol and tobacco it could yield close to 50 billion in tax revenue annually. Along with this, legalizing the drug would save the U.S. about $41 billion a year in enforcing the drug laws, and using that for education and health. The other view would be the medicinal use side of it. Proponents of medical marijuana argue that it can be a safe and effective treatment for the symptoms of cancer, AIDS, multiple sclerosis, pain, glaucoma, epilepsy, and other conditions. The government should legalize marijuana for recreational and medical use because it will create tax revenue, help patients, and we will be done fighting an everlasting war.…

Also, marijuana has a substantial history of medical and clinical applications for people with certain conditions. Medical marijuana is often used as an anesthetic in a large number of countries all around the world (Koch, 2006). Glaucoma is another condition in which medical marijuana is distributed to patients, as it helps alleviate the symptoms and increase comfort in the person suffering, including lowering eye pressure (Southall, 2010). Fifteen states, as well as the District of Columbia, currently allow medical marijuana to be sold and prescribed to its citizens to this day (New York Times, 2011). The topic of legalizing marijuana has been a topic of controversy for quite some time now not only throughout our local streets, but throughout the local and into the state government. The legalization of marijuana is such a controversial topic because some are for it and some are against it. People are for the legalization because of the great uses it has towards medicine, the money that could come from the taxation of legalized marijuana, and the emptying of prisons because of the releases of marijuana offenses. The list could go on and on. Other people are against the legalization because it is considered a “gateway drug”, or because the legalization of marijuana would eventually lead to the legalization of harder drugs such as heroine or cocaine. Despite the negative comments about the drug, marijuana should be legalized because it would give the U.S. a huge amount of money from the taxation and regulation of the drug, its uses would greatly impact our health throughout the medical field and throughout our own well being, and would help our fight with the war on drugs and our overcrowded prisons.…
