My Migration To The United States
In July 18, 1991 my family and I came to the beautiful land of many opportunities, the United States of America for a better life and future. It was a dreams come through .When we first came to America, we were so amazed by the beauty, and richness of the land. However, right away, we recognized that American culture is different from where we originally came from. It didn’t take time for us to notice the culture. Our first destination was, at Richmond Virginia. In Virginia, the weather was so hot, it felt like my skin was on fire. It was so humid, I felt the heaviness of the air, and it smelled like burned rubber. Then, February 28, 1992, my family and I moved to the Evergreen State, Seattle, Washington.     I saw the fear in my two year old sister’s eyes as we were separated from my mother before crossing the border. I hugged her tightly and assured her that everything was okay as I held back my tears. The next couple of days, my sister cried endlessly and persistently asked where “mommy” was.
