    a. Playing men’s basketball in college was a wonderful opportunity for me on several levels. It provided an opportunity that pushed me to work harder than I have ever worked before and it challenged me, mentally and physically. Basketball was the extracurricular activity that has most meaningful to me. Basketball was the first sport i every played when i was younger and started to play organized basketball when i was in 7th grade. Being over weigh, tall, and a one handing shoo landed me as starter center. I tried hard not giving up, eventually losing the extra weight and playing all four years at Aerospace. Since I was 7 years old, basketball has played an integral part of my life. I have devoted countless hours to not just a sport, but a passion, an outlet; to the game that I love. When I arrived at Bow Middle School as a fifth grader, my classmates and I would always look up to the 7th and 8th grade middle school basketball teams. Every year during winter carnival, the boys and girls teams would play a game in front of the entire school. Playing in that game became a dream and a goal of mine, but first I would need to make the team. For three years I developed my basketball skills, using my passion for the sport and desire to play in that game as motivation. When tryouts for basketball in 8th grade drew near, I knew I was ready. However a new coach would be at the helm this year. Our new basketball coach was also a coach for the youth football program. This resulted in numerous football…

It teaches sportsmanship and character. It causes you to persevere and never go down easy. Even though society may think basketball only helps physical development, it has taught me way more and shaped who I am…

This is rarely ever said regarding college basketball. The up and down, fast-tempo style of play is much more engaging and exciting than most other sports. There is never a dull moment. A single game can swing momentum and give way to multiple lead changes in a matter of seconds. This style keeps you on the edge of your seat, making every play seemingly more important than the last. One blink, and one might miss the most important play of the game. It is this that keeps viewers glued to the television screen for hours on…
