A relationship is the way in which people are connected. A relationship can easily be started by a handshake or even from a conversation. The Road, Winsburg Ohio, and Tuesdays with Morrie are three novels that clearly show how a close bond or a relationship can take full control over ones actions. In The Road, author Cormac McCarthy uses the father and the son to illustrate the bond between the father and son, which is almost inseparable. The father believes that he has been entrusted by God to keep the boy safe and to protect him from any harm. In Winsberg Ohio, author Sherwood Anderson address how a very strong relationship ultatmently lead to the death of a spouse. Finally in Tuesdays with Morrie author Mitch Album illustrates the bond between a professor and his student, which in return leads him to changing his views in life.
In The Road, the father was determined to survive for the sake of his son knowing that without him, the boy would die. The fathers bond with his son is so strong that he’s extremely careful of other people. “I’m afraid for that little boy. I know but he’ll be alright. We should go get him, Papa. We could get him and take him with us”. (Pg. 86). In this quote, the father establishes how careful he is when there is any sort of threat towards his child. The father’s personality comes straight from the will to protect his son In Winesburg Ohio, the relationship between George Willard and his mother Elizabeth Willard is illustrated in chapter titled, “Mother”. In the chapter George Willard’s father yells at him for not making something of himself; this infuriates his mother who is very protective of George, who then agrees to murder her husband for yelling at him. However George comes to the realization that his father is right and to become successful and follow his dreams, he would have to leave the city. “Something father said makes it sure that I shall have to go away. He fumbled

Growing up, most of the children I knew would go to church on Sunday’s, visit their grandparents’ house to bake cookies after school, and have milk and cereal for breakfast every morning. But I had never set foot inside of a religious building, couldn’t even speak the same language as my grandmothers, and ate congee with fermented soy beans like it was the most natural thing in the world. My little town where I’d grown up, made friends, and built memories was, to say the least, completely un-diverse.…

Everyone in life will have their own personal obstacles they will have to face in life. Some people will mentally shut down and give up when faced with a challenge. Others will take their challenges and use them to better themselves. The obstacles that I have faced in my life have never hit me harder than they have these past few months. This being my senior year, I always expected it to be the most laid back and relaxing year of my high school career. When in fact I set myself up for one of the biggest challenges of my life so far, by signing up for multiple online college classes, helping out with activities all over the school, and playing football for the first time since freshman year. Although, under all this immense pressure, this is where my true colors came out. I didn’t stop working to my full potential,…

Growing up, I’ve had a hard time being socially active. I was the shy girl that everyone knew. Although being shy was my only way of being safe from others. I trusted only the people in my family. The reason for my shyness’ is: I didn’t trust people to not make fun of me, my birth father and his family didn’t like me, but I did trust my stepfather. My stepfather, has been my father since I was 3 years old, I call him dad and my birthfather I don’t call him anything since he’s never allowed to see me again. I had one friend growing up, his name was and is Seth Garner. I met him when I was 3 years old. Out of all the kids at the school, he was the only one that I could be myself around. While he was my friend, all the other kids would make fun of me to my face or behind my back. Why would they tease me? I know that I am not like other people. I know that I have a disability, but what I don’t know is why everyone had to make fun of me for it. Seth, although he was the favorite one of all the students, the popular kid, he still went out of his way to show me that I actually mattered. He taught me to say “no” or “stop” to the people hurting…

It was a perfectly normal Saturday night, until I sat on the couch. I expected to enjoy a funny movie with my dad, but instead I got a trip to the hospital. I sat on the couch, and then I felt a sting in my elbow. At first, it felt like I got a shot at the doctor, but it slowly got worse, and felt more like a knife slicing into my elbow. I winced and sprung up from the couch. I squinted and my eyes scanned the spot where I just sat down. Aha, I thought. There was a small piece of plastic, and it looked like it broke off from a container.…

Relationships are special bonds between people that do not happen quickly. It takes time meet someone you would consider having a relationship with, and then it building that relationship can be tough. When having a romantic relationship it takes feelings, but it also takes two people to put in effort. The most important step of a relationship is building it, so if you cannot do that step it will not work. Joseph F. Newton once said “People are lonely because they build walls instead of bridges.” This quote proves that building a relationship is very important to a relationship; however it is not the only one. Seamus Heaney’s "Scaffolding" displays romantic relations, by describing the building of relationships, the stages of a relationship, and love.…
