A good friend helped me learn this life lesson. He taught me that instead of worrying about what happend, be there to help. I learned this lesson on a Saturday in March of 2017. It was the afternoon, but before I learned this, my family and I had put around 15 bags full of stuff into my mom's mini van because we were moving. When we got there I went up to my bedroom and cranked my window open to let fresh air into our fresh paint and dust smelling house. After we put all the big bags of junk from our attic into our garage. We went to our neighbors house so we could measure their counter so we to figure out how we want ours. While I

My friend Robbie and I were texting about the ranch we volunteer at and how family day had went even though he was not there. We also texted about the George the horse and how silly he can be, and how the goats have beards and when we braid them they scream for more food. Then after I heard the startling news I had texted my good friend that often helps me when i'm in a predicament. We had called so he could give me advice then e told me “Jade don’t forget to keep your head up”. …...Jade don’t forget to keep your head up, time has passed since then and I have thought about it quite a bit and I know that I need to be there to help the issue and not be a coward about it because that's going to do nothing and most of all in times like this sometime you can't always fix it you need to accept it and carry on and never give

Sixteen-year-old Steve is on trial for murder. But he's having trouble understanding why. "What did I do? I walked into a drugstore to look for some mints, and then I walked out. What was wrong with that? I didn't kill Mr. Nesbitt"(p. 140). Nothing is wrong with that, of course--unless the purpose of that casual trip was to give the "all clear" for a robbery that ended in the murder of the store's owner. Then, something is very wrong. Like his character, Walter Dean Myers grew up in New York. As a young man, he struggled with a speech impediment that caused many of his classmates and teachers to ridicule him and think him unintelligent. Myers often got into trouble at school and on the streets when trying to defend himself against the ridicule, causing many to label him a “Monster” (hence the name of his memoir), much like Steve Harmon was labeled a "monster." Later, while working as a construction worker, Myers decided to follow advice given to him by his high school writing teacher and began writing at night after work, just as the character Steve Harmon writes throughout the novel.…
