It starts off with the separation stage, then the initiation, and finally the dragon. People suffering from mental illness such as anxiety and depression can cause everyday obstacles to become overwhelming and extremely challenging. You can only imagine how difficult the Hero’s Journey would be to someone dealing with mental illness. As a psychology major it would be my job to help patients over come there fears and become the hero they are. The hero’s Journey applies to my life goals because I want to become a psychologist and help people through their Hero’s Journey. …show more content…
In the first stage my patient would be unconscious and in a positive or negative state. With a patient with depression or anxiety they would most likely be in a negative state of mind. My job as a psychologist would be to guide my patient out of that state by giving them support, encouragement, and techniques to help them. Some patient with mental illness may not have a support time to help them through what they are dealing with. Just having a person to talk to and vent about situations is helpful when you don’t have anyone around when they have the skill to help. I believe encouragement is important because a patient may not feel that what they are doing is valid, giving them encouragement might change the way they look at the situation. Dealing with anxiety simple task such ask questions in class can be difficult. Giving the techniques to help them get over any fears that will block them from doing what they have to

I think I am starting to get tired of the everyday routine that we have to endure so we can spend the rest of the day travelling, only to rise the next day to repeat the process again. We wake up earlier than the sun does to eat a meal consisting of bacon, bacon, and more bacon. It wasn’t all that bad at first, but now, I can’t even look at it anymore. At this point in the journey, I am starting to be introduced to another side of nature, one that I didn’t get to experience back in Pittsburgh. We are travelling down a part of the prairie that provides a home to many unique specimens that are new to our city eyes.…

It was the year 2201 AD. Gigantic preparations were in progress for the first manned expedition to Jupiter. A team of 150 astronauts had undergone rigorous training to travel in a spaceship called "Excalibur". They were instructed to fetch samples of all possible objects from Jupiter’s surface. The International Geologists Association were hopeful that they would find some metallic deposits in these objects and this would compensate for the diminishing quantity of metal available in the earth’s mines.…

My father was arrested and my mother left two month pregnant with an unborn child. The connection was lost and life continued. That unborn child was me. I can imagine what she was to do or how she felt. God definitely had hands on me Jeremiah 29:11.…

We all face major hardships in our life, but I’ve met very few that have gone through as many as my grandma has. Being born into a world of war and terror is simply unimaginable, but my grandma had to go through it all. Never seeing what life is truly supposed to be like seems depressing, and not knowing when it will end seems even more. My grandma may argue that for her it wasn’t that bad because she didn’t know that life could be any better and was accustomed to living in a war, but from an outside point of view I will never really understand. At the end of the day, this strong woman pulled through and was able to find success. Looking back at her past, my grandma says that she is grateful for the opportunities she was given. My grandma had to go through all the phases of a hero’s journey including the departure, the initiation, and the return.…

When I was a little girl, I always loved to play pretend. My childhood days were spent being princesses and mermaids, doctors and firemen, and even the occasional dragon. Although I really, really loved being a beautiful fairy queen, I often decided to become something quite different--an explorer. This was where I was at my peak. Yards turned into jungles, and my dog became a very rare tiger, just waiting to be documented and put into my discovery journal. Exploring was my absolute favorite thing to do. However, as I grew older, I gradually stopped exploring. The backyard was simply that--a backyard; my discovery journal was thrown deep in a box and left alone for years. My inner explorer became abandoned on a desert island, in a place where it couldn’t reach me anymore.…

The heroes’ journey teaches us to appreciate the beginning, middle and end of a person seeking to change, grow, sacrifice, kill your old self and transform. Finding their own, ambitious person by learning their strengths and weaknesses. Personally I loved this book because it helped me understand my own characteristics that have led me to come up with the concept I am introducing today. My journey has guided me through the ordinary world to coming full circle and reaching the special world in coordination with this concept. For me I have always been a warrior, magician, a shape shifter who thinks about the world in a different way because of my upbringing and adversities I have had to face as a child. My journey goes far before this paper or…
