My Hero: My Michigan Hero
Have you known someone who it just feels like they always knows what to do? Someone who doesn't give up when something doesn't go the way they intended it to go or when they get genuinely frustrated? A person who is always very generous and patient with everyone and everything they do. And someone who is always there for you no matter what. This to me is always going to be my grandpa Donald Stokely. One reason he is my Michigan hero is he is always generous with both his time and money. He gives hundreds of hours each year working on the Ludington high school baseball diamond that is named after him. He wants the field to always look nice for the players that play on the field and for the coaches and the parents who watch the games. He is …show more content…
He has patience while teaching me new things in the sports I love to play, such as baseball, golf, and tennis. He also shows me what activities/jobs he would like done around the house. He is always teaching me new things such as changing oil in his vehicles to how he wants to mow the lawn in a certain pattern. He is always positive as towards everything he does. He never talks bad about someone or something. The last reason he is my hero is he will always be one of the people I can ask a question to or just to come and hang out with. For example, last year I was helping him change the oil on his lawn tractor and he started it up and let it run for a couple of minutes. I got extremely confused, so I simply asked him why he was doing this. He explained how it is easier to change the oil when it is warm. That is just one more reason he is my Michigan hero. As I have shown you my grandpa Donald Stokely is generous, patient, positive, and fun to hang out with all the time. I have learned many things from my grandpa, but the most important lessons he has taught me is to always be positive and generous to others and yourself. He has also told me you get one chance in life so be careful with what you do. I'd like to thank my hero for everything that he has taught me showed me and for all the other things he will still teach me in the many years to

When you think about a hero, who is the first person to pop into your mind? Maybe it’s a friend, family member, professional athlete, actor, or musician. The first person that comes to my mind is a professional athlete, Tim Tebow. Ever since I watched him play for Florida through the television when he was in college I have looked up to him. He has inspired me in more ways than one. He is an excellent Christian role model for kids, as well as adults. He has given everyone multiple reasons to look up to him, and doesn’t do it for publicity either. I think he maintains his Christian attitude on and off the field to honor the Lord, as well as his family.…

A hero that we have learned about that has really grasped my attention this year is a man that people call “Guardian of the Bridge.” This man has really spoken to me in a way that no other person has. He is the true definition of selflessness and a great example of a true hero. This man is like every other human being except there is just one thing different about him; he gives without wanting anything in return. This man was named the “Guardian of the Bridge” because when people felt like they were done with life and were ready to give up, this man rushed to their side and talked to them for hours on end. He watched over these people and made sure he did whatever it would take to save these peoples precious and valuable lives. This man is an inspiration to me and many other people because of his dedication that he took to talk to people and help them think twice about…

Christopher Reeve once said, “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” Many people in this world who we consider “heroes” started just like any average kid. They were not born heroes or with special talents. They just have the willingness and determination to succeed and fight their way around obstacles. That is what I see everyday from my brother. He is just a normal person, but whether he is studying or doing his job he excels at it. He knows that if he just sits there and worries he won’t succeed in anything. This is why I look at him as my Personal Michigan Hero and why others should as well.…

Many deaths of various people in my life have helped me realize that those people have made an impression on my life that will last forever. Several people have passed away in my lifetime. Some I did not know all that well, but others have been especially close to me. One example is my Grandfather Sam who passed away when I was in third grade. Not to be discourteous to other people who are important in my life, but he was always extremely close to me. I would almost go as far as saying that he was the most special person in my life, and he still is to this day. He showed me that even though life gets rough sometimes, you are rewarded with the good times after you make it through the bad. He displayed this philosophy in his daily life. He had been through so much trouble and sadness in his life, such as witnessing the passing of his wife, daughter, and…

Horcher, my high school coach. Not only did he influence me to become better in sports he pushed me to become the best I can be, but he also advised me to keep up with my studies and give it my best in that aspect as well. I can still recall, every week when we would stay after school to practice on both my reading and writing at the time I wasn't the best,I knew I needed help and I was determined to give it my all since I knew that I needed a hand so I reached out and he helped. He stated “As long as you keep winning us basketball games and keep up with your grades you’ll go places kid”. Those words are still in my head till this day. As a result, we won many games and won a couple dollars for the school. I can certainly say that I am grateful for this man for showing me the power of not giving up and always trying your best. The determination I acquired is something I will never…
