I was introduced to one of my coworkers whose husband attended Columbia Southern University talking to me about how he really enjoyed attending Columbia. I began my research on Columbia University and all that it had to offer they had the best tuition that I had seen in reference to other colleges. Unaware that my place of employment networked with Columbia made it possible for me to get a discount on my tuition. My first thought was Business but realizing that was not my true calling I change my major to Hospitality Management and Tourism. I have always had a great fascination with beautiful hotels and resorts loving the whole outlook of satisfied and happy people. I traveled a great deal inspired by the beauty of certain hotels and resorts not being able to get over making my dream come true. Law enforcement has been good to me, being in a position where I can't go any further, along with the job and the danger involved the pay is definitely not worth it. I have done a lot of research my

One was French CEGEP (Lionnel-Groulx) and the other was English CEGEP (Vanier). We gave our surveys to around 75 athletes and 25 non-athletes, 50 males and 50 females. This research was interesting to have athletes from all different sports so we went to different practices in the two different CEGEPs and distributed surveys. For the non-athletes, we just walked into the cafeteria and have my survey to every 1 out of 5 students, asking them prior if they were participating in any team…

My name is Regina Goforth-Lewis. I was born and raised in Michigan. As a young child, I went to four different elementary schools. I ended up graduating High School from the last of those schools, Southfield Christian High School. It was here that I decided I would eventually work with youth in some way. My life took a small detour before I got to that point. I attended the Oakland Community College shortly after graduating, however, decided to work full time and pursue a different career avenue: Retail Management. Although this was exciting and perfect for me at the time, I knew it was not my calling. Around the age of 22, I decided to enroll back to in college part time and follow the original dream of working with young people. I studied under the Social Work/Mental Health field. I never completed the program to receive my Associates Degree; however, I do have 66 credit hours accumulated. During this time, I loved college and my internship, which later became a fulltime job at the H.A.V.E.N. I worked there as a Supervised Visitation Specialist for many years. While working in the social work field and also in the communications field, I met and married my husband and we started a family. I always knew if it was feasible I would want to be able to stay at home with my children for as long as possible and I was fortunate enough to be able to do this for almost 13 years. Along the way I held down several part time jobs to earn extra income for the family, these jobs always included working with youth to some degree, such as a shift supervisor at the local Parks and Recreation Center’s concession stand or at the Elementary School where the children attended as a lunch room monitor. I also volunteered time at my church as a Sunday school teacher, a senior high youth advisor and a Deacon. I read to students at the library and taught American Sign Language (ASL) to hearing children. After 15 years, my children’s father and I divorced. I currently find myself as…

One has to approach school as an added duty in one’s life. I must add an extra responsibility to my daily chores and activities. I am venturing into an activity I have not done any schooling for over 30 plus years now. School is something I must learn all over again. This changes our everyday routines to a point that we all must learn to work well with this new education. I am glad that in the past I had learned great tools to work with while working on these new responsibilities. Making it great while I was getting my A.S. degree in Florida Tech College out of Orlando, FL. Back then everything was paper and pencil or pen. Now I see an all new era of schooling and especially online. I force myself to get things done early, just like I do when I need to be somewhere for an appointment. I arrive much earlier than requested so I have time to sit and plan what will be going on at this appointment. I turn that into the same here with my online class. I don't like to be late for anything even dinner at home. Work on my college activities and required assignments take on the same aspect that I apply to my personal life. Both must be taken on with kid gloves. But as long as I keep in mind the goals created for school and stick to them I should have no trouble working out any obstacles that come my…
