My Generation Is What ` S Wrong With Today's Society

“You’re generation is what’s wrong with today’s society”. A common phrase that I hear on a weekly basis, or see posted by keyboard warriors on social media. I come from a family of two other brothers, me being the youngest, all of us being Millennials. My classmates and I bring up the tail end of the millennial generation, and have gotten to see how older members of our generation are taking part in society. The problem I have with some of the statements about how my generation interacts with society is that many of us are just getting to an age where we can actually participate. The end of our generation has just now gotten old enough to vote, and many are beginning to enter the job force after graduating college. However, I understand and agree with the concerns and stereotypes
I heard a lot of talk about how these activists were entitled, lazy, and selfish. It was around this time I began to understand politics as well, and began to comprehend what was meant by terms like “liberal” and “socialist”. I started to agree with what Johnny Oleksinski meant in his article written this year “I’m a millennial and my generation sucks” when he said “Millennials are the worst. I should know — I am one.” (Oleksinski). Now maybe the reason the prejudice and hate towards my generation is so prevalent is because is much more visible to everyone these days. With social media, everyone’s opinion is viewable by all their friends and family. Some would also say that maybe this generation is more outspoken than the Baby Boomers or Generation X. Put the problem lies with what we’re being activists for, not the fact that we’re being outspoken. One stereotype that I agree with is my generation’s work ethic, or lack of actually. Oleksinski states in his article two stories about Millennials in the work force. “…25-year-old Yelp employee who was rightly fired for
