My First Love
My First Love
By: Scarlet Padilla Aranda

Love is a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes that ranges from interpersonal affection, to pleasure. It can refer to an emotion of a strong attraction and personal attachment. It can also be a virtue representing human kindness, compassion, and affection, so in my next essay im going to talk of the first time that i felt it.
I remember when people told me how good it felt, how you could feel like the happiest and luckiest person on earth, but what people forgot to tell me was the feeling you get after that. Devastated, lonely, depressed; those are just some adjetives to describe how i really feel.
That warm feeling that runs through my body while i stand in a cold room, that only you can make me feel. I have become so dependant of you and you know it, and all you want to do is take advantage of it.
September 22, 2010, I still remember. How can i forget the day that i tried it for the first time? It was early, I could barely wake up, the cold and the fatigue were hunting my soul. The truth is that i had been tempted before but i never got the oppotunity to try it. This craving appeard when i needed him the most so i did it. I tried him for the first time.
To be honest i didn’t like you at first, In fact i felt like i was doing something wrong, but as time passed, I started to like it more and more. It was something different that made me feel like a better person. All the problems that i had dissapeard, or at least, i didn’t think about them while i was with you. I think that was the thing that i most liked about you, because when i was with you everything was perfect.
I promised to myself to never talk about it, It felt weird. Maybe because it was weird for me, that i was not that kind of girl. Eventually i told my friends, they told me that it was a great idea, that it would make me feel good. Why didn’t i listen to my six sense when i wasn’t hoocked up with you? I remember the first months when everything was going so well, you didn’t now how much i loved you. I mean you didn’t feel guilty? Right? Seriously, i was so in love, so much that you became my addiction, i was thinking of you 24/7.
How is it possible that something that feels so good also was killing me?
But in this moment i realize that i still miss you, but when i realized how much pain i was getting, i decided to forget you, to get over you and to erase you forever.

You knew I was scared of the dark so you left the light in the bathroom( you still do that every time we come over) and you put a chair next to the bed so if me or Kasia fell off nothing would happen to us. Then I became homesick and scared of the night and the dark and you stayed at the bottom of the bed talking to me until I fell asleep and I do not know how you accomplished that. You slept near me the whole entire night in case I woke up and you cared for the slightest need, that I requested. As your eyes were half closed you made sure I was always happy. Then the next morning you made the breakfast that is now the usual at house (Nalesniki, bacon, eggs and homemade blueberry syrup). I will never forget how you cared for me because you influenced me to care for others before myself and everyday of your life you follow…

In “A Decade,” a poem by Amy Lowell, the reader is shown how a lover’s attitude can go from infatuation at first to just predictability and love. In this poem Lowell uses imagery and similes to elaborate on the feelings of the speaker towards his/her lover. In the beginning of the relationship the speaker is infatuated with the lover, and Lowell expresses this infatuation through the use of a simile in line one when comparing the lover to “red wine and honey”. As the relationship goes on deeper into the decade a comparison between the lover and “morning bread” is made in line three, showing the reader that instead of being like “red wine and honey” in the beginning, which burnt the speaker’s mouth with sweetness, now the lover is perceived as being “smooth and pleasant”.…

I love it when you kiss me goodbye. I love how you tell me I’m beautiful every day. I love the openness. And of course, I love how you make me feel. You’ve been one of the reasons I have a smile on my face. One of the reasons why I love waking up in the morning.…
