My Family Heritage Analysis
A family's heritage is their sense of culture and traditions. Every family has their own unique values and beliefs. I created a flag that encompasses words, colors, and symbols to represent my family’s heritage.
In my flag, I used the words educated, traditional, creative, and ambitious to represent my family. I said educated because people in my family have grown up to be very successful. I have had members that were famous lawyers, teachers, and doctors. Creative because everyone in my family does a fine art. My dad plays the indian drum, my mom dances, my brother plays piano, and I dance, sing, play the violin, and code. I also have uncles that have grown up to be famous singers in India. When fire burns something, it doesn’t discriminate. The same way, death doesn’t discriminate from the rich and the poor. Fire also symbolizes sacrifice. In a puja, or prayer ritual, when a large fire is set to flame, there are many offerings burned in it. These colors are the most significant to Hinduism. The three symbols I used are the trishula, the OM sign, and an elephant. These signs are special to my culture because they are important in Hinduism. My family is very traditional, and even though my family immigrated to America, all the customs of Hinduism are still celebrated and adhered to. The trishula is a weapon carried by many of the gods in my culture, namely Shiva. He is said to be the most powerful of the main three gods (Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva) and in the divide between Hindus, where a family believes that one of either Vishnu or Shiva is the most powerful, my family is Shaivite, or oriented around Shiva. Furthermore, the temple that is our kula daivam (ancestral God or family deity) is the Manapullikavu Bhagavathi, which is a Kali temple, who is the female incarnation of Shiva, and also carries a trisula. The OM sign is central to the concept of Hinduism. It is believed to be the first

Maud Newton’s “America’s Ancestry Craze” discusses genealogy and how it is used to find out information about your ancestors. Newton shares her experience while having access to centuries of public records online and how discovering some of these records, should be done with caution. The idea of someone using these online websites, to find out who they are as a person, is only some of the many ideas newton goes over in her essay. Newton also goes into much detail on genes and how they, including details of her ancestors, are used to make up a person. The fascination people have for DNA analysis is strongly encouraging more people to put together their family tree. The only true way Newton believes we can find out who we are as a person, is…

The flag symbolizes many different things to different people. Such as sacrifice, liberty, or even freedom. But every time I approach the flag, it reminds me of all of the soldiers who have fought to gain and maintain our freedom. One of the words I would use would be liberty because when I see the fifty stars and thirteen stripes on the flag I already know what they stand for. First the lines represent our first thirteen colonies, and the fifty stars represent the fifty states. There are even meanings to the colors too. For example the blue symbolizes justice and freedom. The red symbolizes honor and valor, and the white stands for purity.…

Marxism also made this mistake, as well as feminism. What these approaches didn’t take into account was that there are many other types of family out there, which is even truer in contempary society. This essay will attempt to asses the extent of this diversity, and the explanations of it.…
