My Ethnicity Research Paper

My ethnicity is a very interesting one I think. My father is Swedish with a little Irish to go along with it, while on the other hand my mother is full Colombian. Everyone that I have encountered thinks that I am just as white as my father when really I am also half Colombian. This has a big effect on the way people from latin culture see me. My mother spoke to me in Spanish ever since I was born so I could one day be fluent in Spanish and utilize it in the future. I always like going somewhere with a latin atmosphere because everyone there thinks I can not understand them when in reality I can. This has had a huge effect on me and my perspective of the world as to how much I can use it. My parents both were very poor when they were growing up often times working two jobs and going to school all at the same time. They really valued school and everything else that they were able to do because they worked very hard for their money. Being with their family was very important because that was something they could always rely on to make them feel better and in a sense always protected. Growing up with all of these opportunities definitely made my life a lot easier. I never had to really go on my own in order to something i wanted to my parent were alway able to afford my sports team, snowboarding hobby, and even my love for big 4x4 cars for trail blazing. Being able to afford more things allows us to live in a nice neighborhood where everyone was very friendly always willing to help their neighbors. I feel that some who have less tend to live in neighborhoods with different atmospheres therefor changing your whole view on life. This makes me realize how lucky I am to have parents who raised me with opportunity when they never had
We are the first generation to grow up with all of this technology which I think really boosts how fast we begin to grow up. I think that our generation also does infantilize the elderly, not because we want to its just that the world has changed so rapidly for them that it seems like they aren't able to keep up with us. Age also has negative effects on the youth as well, many adults will not take a younger person serious this can often be frustrating because it makes us feel small without any say. Even though we may not be taken serious all the time this gentian has showed what it is capable of doing in the future. College has become something that is expected to attend after high school. This attitude is good for us because it encourages more of our generation to get an education in order to make our world better. Most of our media is composed of our generation which goes to show just how much we have made an impact on. The youth of the world will always have the new ideas that became bigger and better
