Sharing racial generalizations with those targeted by them will only cause emotional damage. Rather than telling your coworker that he defied your expectations, consider reflecting on how you developed the stereotype in question and how to let go of it.

2. Describe how a manager or coach could use the process of self-fulfilling prophecy to enhance an individual’s performance.
When you think you are good at something you often do better than when you try to do something you don’t think you are able to do. The coaches’ behavior is affected by their expectation about that particular player. This affects the player’s self-confidence and ability because they are able to play more. This again leads to the player’s behavior becoming consistent with the expectations of

    1) Using two racial groups [of color], demonstrate how oppositional dichotomies of race define racial stereotypes. Oppositional dichotomies of race is like the idea of polar opposites. It is a unit made up of two parts that compliment each other and are essential to one another. To think about it simply and without race, it is like left and right or light and dark. Left and right depend on each other because without one of them, the other can’t exist; this same idea can be applied to racial stereotypes.…

Americans are much more susceptible to accepting and condoning racial and social stereotypes about African Americans than many of their counterparts in the developed world because of prederterminant social factors.…

In the text, Kreitner and Kinicki (2008) refer to an example of stereotyping and a “surface level dimension of diversity” influencing one’s behavior. They go on to say “These dimensions, for the most part, are not within our control, but they strongly influence our attitudes and expectations and assumptions about others, which, in turn, influence our behavior.” (p 37). This definition of stereotyping is the basis for our observation of derogatory attitudes that has occurred within the workplace.…
