My cultural artifact is simply a football. For a long time, Sports have been a big part of culture all around the world. Football is big in the United States and is mainly an American culture but it is also in Canada and some other countries. Football is made of pig skin and its filled with air. I connect to football because it has brought me to where I'm at now. Being good at football has opened opportunities for me in college and in the future. I picked it because I love it. My dad played football at Clemson university so its in blood. It is important to me because it has brought me to new places, made me new relationships, and is giving me a free education. I have been playing football for a long time and it's a very interesting game and culture to be a part of. In high school I caught a pass that was nationally ranked as top 3 plays of the week. In high school I had to be the best on my team, have really good film and make very good plays to be able to get noticed by Division I schools. In high school the way that you are noticed by colleges is basically your film. Every game in high school is filmed by one of your coaches. There is a website called Hudl that you can put all your good plays from your film onto one tape and make a highlight film. Sending this out to Division I schools or just simply a division one school finding it and looking you up from your huddle profile kitty recruited. The better your film is the higher ranking of A player you will be. There is another website call rivals.com that has all of the prospects in high school that colleges recruit. On this website they have every high school Prospect right by star rating. The highest star rating is five in the lowest is one. Getting on your film the expert from the rival’s website which is full of recruiting experts will rank you and give you your star rating. From there at your star rating will pretty much determine how many schools you have got it from. I was a three-star recruit coming out of high school. If you are a five-star athlete you're likely to have over 42
The rare lessons that people need to understand can be tough through football and the game. The game asks a young man to push himself further than he ever thought he could go. It literally challenges his physical courage. It shows him what it means to sacrifice and It teaches him the importance of doing his job well. It helps a young mam learn to put others first to be part of something bigger than ourselves. We learn to lift are teammates and ourselves up together.
