My Controversie-Personal Narrative
Today was June 4, and the bus was coming to a halt in front of my gray, two story house. I threw my backpack up on my shoulders and grabbed the black French Horn case sitting next to me. Starting at the sunny blue sky, a warm sensation was on my skin. Not long after, me and Josie had passed the first seat. We quickly said thank you to the bus driver, Joel. And jumped off the bus side by side with a wide smile on our faces. We were both free from school for a whole weekend. Without any sports or sibling events, I was positive that we would be spending the whole weekend together. Then Josies voice interrupted my thoughts.
“Hey Anna, do you want to come over to my house and swim?” Josie yelled, crossing her fingers behind her back. Hoping that my answer would be yes.
“Oh, I would love to Josie!” I yelled back, with a smile spreading across my face. As she walked away, my smile faded.

I forgot I have to do chores,” I exclaimed, disappointed. After a few minutes of thought, my conscious told me that I should spend my weekend with Josie, and skip the list of chores, I mean I did say yes to her question. Many minutes had passed, and I was walking over to a large, gray house, that was a 3 story. Josies family had quite a bit of money, since her dad was a doctor and her mom was a secretary. Once I got there, Josie was at the back gate greeting me in. As she unlocked the gate, both of us darted into the pool. For a hour, me and Josie did three sixty's, pencils, diving, flips, and water basketball. We both had so much fun. And I couldn’t wait to spend the next day with her too. Or at least that’s what I had

I flipped my hair back with my hand and strutted into the school. My brand new Betsey Johnson leather jacket had caught the attention of some of the boys. I ignored them all and ambled over to my locker, grabbing my world history books out. As I was walking to my first class, world history, my best friend looped her arm around mine. I smiled and we stopped at my classroom, I set my bag down in my seat and we ambled outside. I pulled out two cigarettes and she lit them as we walked to her part of the building.…

It all began with a simple phone call one chilly, rainy Monday night after dinner. “Joe,” my mother hollered up the stairs, “it is Jackie.” As I came downstairs to pick up the phone, I was quite excited. Although I tired, I was looking forward to spending some time with Jackie, my long time friend. As I skipped steps running down the stairs I thought of all the things we would do tonight, bowling, go out to eat, watch a movie, so many things to choose from. But tonight was Jackie’s turn to decide what to do as I got to choose last time we hung out.…

It was the beginning of June, a steamy summer day in Florida. School was in recess so I was able to sleep late that day. When I woke up I mentally sorted out my schedule. “Nothing much,” I thought, “just a normal day; work then home.” I got out of bed, ate breakfast, took a shower, and got ready for work at the local sandwich shop. I did not expect to receive an unforgettable call at work from my then girlfriend’s sister, Jahaira.…

It was a beautiful, sunny, late spring afternoon in the year 2006. Rebecca, my older sister, and I had just skipped off the school bus by the yellow fire hydrant on the opposite side of the sloped street from my house. I could see the cheerful park where we loved to play just a short distance away. Taking a deep breath in, I could smell the flowers planted along the sidewalk. Mother was outside with my three younger sisters: Karissa, Alora, and baby Samantha. Karissa and Alora frolicked around the lawn, picking bright yellow dandelions to present to mother, who sat in the shade of the house guarding Samantha against the bright sunlight. Crossing the street, I saw choke cherry trees with pretty pink budding, and a beautiful green lawn…

Even though we lived about a mile away from each other, during the summer time we were inseparable. Our day would start off doing with each of us doing our daily housework. This doesn’t mean that is how it always worked out. But, normally we did do our work first. Every day after I finished my chores, I would ride my bike to Deanna’s house. We would then walk to the nearby college in our town. The college had a recreation program for the kids during the summer months. Our normal routine at the college would start off with walking around the track field: about two or three laps, then we would run about two or three miles around the track. Afterwards, we would go inside and start doing warm-up exercises, following our gymnastics. We weren’t all that good at gymnastics, but we sure thought we were. Preceding our extensive work-out we would head to the Olympic size pool practicing our freestyle, breaststrokes, butterfly stroke, and last but not least our diving techniques. After our long extensive day of exercise we would go to the sauna room and relax for a while. Finally, before we went home, we used the college’s shower room facility and took a nice long hot shower. We had to look refreshed and cleaned, just in case we ran into…

I woke up by the blue jays singing by the tree beside my bedroom window. I got dressed in my blue jeans and my Adidas sweater. As I went downstairs my mom had a big breakfast set out on the round table. I sat down and as I started gobbling down the pancakes my brother joined us. We cleaned off the table and I took my backpack and put on my jacket to go out for school. My brother ‘Matt’ following right behind me. I and he decided to take the shortcut we found during summer break when we went biking, instead of the actual way through the streets. It had already started to snow in September and the shortcut through the pond was slippery, but we scrambled through it. As we made our way near the school, we saw some of the kids we saw when we went biking hanging out by the timeworn school sign. I guess my brother didn’t really want to enter school with me because he scurried off to a friend he met at a band competition during the break. I didn’t really find any friends during the break, except this kid named Jack who was my neighbour, but the problem with him was that he was one of the fattest kid I have seen, and all he would want to do was stay home and watch this TV show about a loser who always got beaten up. I stayed away from him all summer but I guess I shouldn’t have, because now I have to enter the school all by my self not knowing where to go or not knowing anything about the school.…

I leapt in pure joy and excitement. It didn’t take long before I got lost in my own happy world, playing the amazing see-saw, the swing, the slide and many more. Being a friendly child I was, I even made a playground friend. I noticed she looked lonely, sitting on the bench at the far side of the park. "Hey, want to play with me?", I smiled sweetly. She was blushing and rather shy at first, but I managed to persuade her to join me. Later on, we were on cloud nine and having a whale of time together. She even told me that her name was Sara.…

As I boarded the bus that fateful day, I thought of how this would work out. I wondered how all of my high school friends were doing. They were still having fun, sipping the last drips of fun from summer’s cup. I longed for the times we spent together just this past summer, swimming on the sandy beaches of Batangas. I sat there thinking about what was about to happen next.…
