Military Leadership Philosophy Examples
Foundational Leadership Philosophy:

My leadership philosophy is built on the understanding that the foundation of our country

was forged through hard-work, difficulty, and sacrifice. I will remember that as a Military

member, my responsibility may ask the same of me and I will be willing to commit the same

level of hard-work, perseverance, and sacrifice when needed. I will live and work to honor and

continue the legacy of freedom that was passed down to myself and my family by both the

forgotten and remembered, the free and those who were not free, those who fought and won and

those who fought and lost but who's children and grandchildren, as well as my own, who live in

the shadow of their actions.

I will strive to ensure the input and suggestions from my team are considered and

will communicate clearly when and why their input was not able to be acted upon.

I will hold my team in high regard and expect them to be able to perform their duties.

When a member of the team falls short of what is needed and expected I will ensure they are

aware of the deficiency and allow them time to meet standards. I will be impartial in my actions

as a leader when dealing with deficient actions of a team member and myself.

I will give my team members enough freedom to be creative and use their individual

abilities to benefit the team. I will strive to identify individual talent and abilities and place

members in positions that will use those abilities.

I will not ignore toxic behavior or attitudes and will not allow toxic behaviors and

attitudes to compromise my team. Toxic behaviors and attitudes intentional or un-intentional will

be addressed. I will not listen to gossip nor judge members of my team by past actions but will

allow each person the opportunity to perform to the best of their abilities regardless of past

mistakes. I will expect the same standards and actions from members of my team.
