Discipline means training of the mind so as to make it accept willingly the control of rules or orders. Discipline is the most fundamental of all qualities that shape a person. It is self-control and the tendency to act most appropriately on all occasions never trespassing the rules of propriety. Discipline is important for one self, for military and for religions, though many would argue that on the hand, discipline can result in the undermining of one’s pride and the restriction of one’s creativeness.

It is important to have self-discipline as many successful people revealed that self-discipline has helped them to turn failures into successes, therefore, it is the only true way to genuine success. For example, if a student’s goal is to graduate, so in order to obtain his goal, he has to make a commitment and focus on the goal of graduating. He has to be persistent in everything he does and ignore any possible distraction because his priority is to accomplish his goal. As a result, he will graduate eventually. Although self-discipline is not an easy task but it is the price one needs to pay for success. Self-control, obedience, single-minded devotion to duty, the capacity for self-sacrifice—these are the virtues fostered by a sense of discipline. Attributes like hard work, integrity, ambition, risk-taking and patience are also impossible to nurture without the practice of self-discipline. Therefore, discipline is fundamental in achieving goals and success in life.

Discipline is of the utmost importance for a country in order to ensure the efficiency of its military organization as a whole as well that of the individual units. Military discipline ensures that the highest level of profeesionalism is maintained at all times and that the country will be efficiently protected against all external threats.
