Sitting on top of our 10-passenger van, I could see the entire dirt pitch with dusty chalk lines surrounded by hundreds of cheering fans. Two local Haitian teams battled it out on the soccer field that night as I sat and soaked it all in. With this interest in sports and health, I pursued a degree in Exercise and Sports Science, which helped me developed a strong passion towards promoting health in others. Through all of these experiences, I have continually increased in my enthusiasm for promoting physical activity and health in others. During my time working in the health field and shadowing, I was able to see how much time physician assistants are able to spend with their patients. This is the time when the provider is able to inspire and educate the patient on how to improve their health behaviors. As a physician assistant, not only will I be able to provide medical care to patients, but I will also be able to provide the patients with the necessary tools and education in order to achieve optimal health. I look forward to continuing my path in serving the health and medical needs of others as a physician

Sounds pretty similar to the agency I work for but it sounds like you had a lot more training then we did. Oddly, I was never asked or told to shadow anyone however, I did have a few nurses shadow me. I asked these nurses about it and they told me they weren’t getting paid for their time and I thought that was a little bizarre. I’m guessing that many agencies do not pay people for training after hearing your experience was similar to…

My goal is to aspire to become a skillful physician assistant. My passion is to help people and educate them to live a healthy lifestyle. I will respect each and everyone’s needs. I will support my values and provide quality care for all patients. I believe that to get the most effective results is building on to the physical strength. This comes about constantly varying methods and weight. After one specializes in a certain method, after a while it no longer shows results because the body has become accustomed to it. For an individual to be healthy we must work not only on physical strength, but skill oriented exercises, and cardiovascular performances.…

After graduating from Oakland University in 2010 with a Bachelor's degree in Health Science, I joined the Detroit Medical Center as a laboratory technologist because I wanted to learn about clinical instruments and their technology. As a Medical Technologist, I process blood, urine and other body fluids on advanced chemistry and toxicology analyzer to aid physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. These instruments aid the technologist by automating very complex and time consuming process. The instruments can be programmed to automatically upload results to physicians in real time, streamlining patient care while holding back abnormal results for review by the technologist before they are released to the physicians. Personal and professional experiences in health care have given me a vision about where I want my career to progress and have encouraged me to pursue a degree in Health Information Technology.…
