Journalists and TV interviewer Andrew Denton said the best skills an interviewer can bring to the job are “disciplined reseach and a careful ear”.do you agree with his statement? Why or why not? In answering these questions, discuss the most important skills, practical cosiderations and techiniques a journalists needs for a a successful interview. Yes, I agree with this statement. As stated above skills, practical considerations and techiniques are very important for a journalist and tv interviewer to make an interview success. First of all,you need to know the basic skills. Basic skills such as editorial policy and communication. Editorial policies are important because if you don’t know what are you trying to achieve, you’re flailing round in a fog. Nowadays, reporters go for the easy choice such as interviewing over the phone. Interview over the phone might be easier but still information is there but then trainee journalists need to get out to meet people. Interview the person face to face because this is the basic tool skill in journalism and you can learn a lot of thing through a fce to face interview. Such as get more information briefly compare to interviewing over the phone which would be an incomplete information source. Another basic skill is communication. Journalists and tv interviewer should bold to communicate with the people out there. There shouldn’t have the affraidness to communicate with the people out there. In journalism and tv interviewer, communication with the people or interviewee is how you get to know more information about the interview or whatever you are briefing. Besides that, when you communicate to your interviewee do remember an important point and that is careful with what are you saying because a simple word pronouncition such as “hour or our” can make misunderstanding between the interviewer and interviewee. So to avoid that be careful with your communication. Other basic interviewing skills are ask clear question, make sure your question is correct or not and is it related to the interviewee. And when the interviewee answer your question listen to answer carefully. If the interviewee don’t answer your question or tries to keep quite by giving smile, encourage the interviewee to keep talking because when they spek out that’s where your information is so encourage them. Skills that we had discussed is some of the basic skills that you should know to interview someone. Moreover , you do need to do some pratical consideration before and on your interview. Research doesn’t mean you need to discover about the interviewee but then it’s a simple thing. You need to find out as much as possibly about the the interviewee. This helps you plan the question and get prepared with your topic. There are two more steps you have to do during the interview is as mentioned before listen and empathise. Listen to the interviewee carefully,to held a good interview a journalist don’t talk much. Silence is the best. So on, empathise doesn’t mean you have to like the interviewee, but just keep your concertration on. Therefore, other practical consideration are preparing and getting started. Preparation for every 10 minutes before the interview might be easy for you. Persists is once you know who you wish to interview , you need to persuade them to talk to you. It helps you in a good reputation. Persistence is important. Identify your target-correctly. Fixing appoinments do have it’s own characteristics. Such as appointment through phones. Mostly the interviewee are busy so whne you talk to the PA/ secretary ,you have to introduce yourself and your publication, explain roughly about the interview and how might it take. Be very careful when you fixing appoinments because you might not looking at the wrong month and date but what if they do,to avoid that kind of problem you have to say the date and time. Example “is it on Friday ,25 January, at 3.00 p.m-right?”. By doing it this you can avoid mistakes.
Futhermore, you have to consider about what to take with you. Things that you need along are note book for a suitble size (spiral ting bound A5 reporter’s book) try to avoid use A4 note pad, business card, pins/pencils, tape digital recorder with the voice-activated control switched permanently off, ready to record tape in position, pre-identified with interviewee’s name and date of interview, spare tape and battery, mobile phone/phone card, map, address ,telephone number of the person to be interviewed and direction to gt there. But if know the location for example if in the city you might not need the map. To interview a person you should be on time and make sure the attires you wear is suitable to the place you are going, always know what to wear. On the other hand, as the interview starts, the first impression is count. Example ,TV dramatist Andrea Newman was once interviewed by seven journalists in one day. She says that by interviewer number five she knew in the first few seconds if the interview would work. It was a short interview. The first impression should be good to give your interviewee the same feeling felt by Andrea Newman. Start the interview with an anxiety for the most begginers when face-to-face with their interviewee is about shaking hands.Keep an eye contact with your interviewee-look, please, not stare. Know where to sit, when to begin and make it interesting for them. Therefore ,it’s the interviewing techniques. There are four techniques should be followed up. The first technique is as I mentioned earlier listen and encourage. A journalists should be a good listener because listening is not easy it requires empathy, discipline , understanding and patience. If not you can’t listen it well. Second technique is use silence,of course not on the first few minutes of thw interview. It’s would be difficult to br silence-agin nature for some journalists but it’s one of the mosr valuable techniques. Thirdly, make sentences requiring conformation/denial. One way to put them at their ease and not to ask questions but to seek conformation. You can do this through statement. Final technique is summarise and move on such as last and valuable type of statementis the summary. This can be used when your interview is over-talketive. Summarise what they said and move on. Last but not the least, that’s all the skills, practical consideration and interviewing techniques that I know. I hope all those skills, practical consideratiom and interviewing techniques will help you in your studies or maybe future. Remember always be cautious in each and every step you do and in youe pronouncition. That’s all from me .

My weakness part is I sometimes confuse with the meaning of the words or use the wrong words in the sentences. The misused words and disorganized content always weaken my writing. My strength in the writing is developing my ideas. Usually, I would develop at least three ideas concerning the topic. Overall I join the writing class, I have learned that each writing process has its own characteristic, and they have improved my writing skills.…

The Hamilton College Style Sheet explains the writing process in a way that is easy to understand. Although no two people write the same way this article gives you basics steps most people follow. The Style Sheet states each step and explains easy ways to complete these tasks. The Hamilton College Style Sheet consist of six basic steps to go about writing your essay; read, free write, thesis, outline, draft, and revise. The first step is to read whatever article, book, or paper you are to discuss. Sometimes to fully understand you have to make notes on the paper or jot down important points that you think could be useful in your writing. The Hamilton College Style Sheet also suggests what I believe to be the most important tip; discuss passages you feel are unclear with your peers to guarantee you have a complete understanding of the writing. The second step to the style sheet is to free write. In my opinion free writing is one of the most difficult steps; I have a hard time putting my thoughts on paper. The writing process suggests jotting down possible arguments and asking yourself if you can formulate a main argument out of your notes. Next comes your thesis, a well-developed thesis is a very important aspect of your writing. In order to make sure your thesis is not to prod, name specific places, events, and your side of the argument. The forth step to the writing process is to create an outline. An outline is very important to some people and others think otherwise. I create an outline to organize my introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. In my opinion, this step is one of the most useful steps in the writing process. Creating an outline gives you a clear diagram of what more is needed in your essay. After creating your outline comes your first draft. In your draft you need to have an introduction, several well-developed paragraphs,…
