When considering the first variable “Home”, I begin by questioning how can the information gathered be classified and broken down. Can it be divided in number order? No. Is one response in some way able to be ranked with value, as in this answer is obviously more valuable than this one? No. I believe that Home will be a Nominal Variable. It has multiple categories without natural order or value.
When considering the variable “Arrests” I begin by questioning is this information based on words or numbers. In this case it is based in numbers, Zero arrests all the way up to twenty-four arrests as answered by the 343 people questioned (Walker & Maddan, 2013). This would lead me to believe this variable to be Ratio because it is number ordered and has a true zero.
In this case it is based in numbers so it is not Nominal. Then I look to the order of the data to determine if there is a true zero, in this case there is not (Walker & Maddan, 2013). As I understand the concept you cannot live somewhere for zero amount of time. This leads me to chose Interval as the variable type because it is based in number order and there is a quantifiable order to the data, 1 month is less than 3 months which is less than 240 months. The interval is there in the measurement of months but without a true zero it falls short of
