Marriage Under 18 Essay
Marriage Under Eighteen

Recent surveys have shown that marriage under the age of eighteen has decreased over the years. This issue has been affected by culture and new ways of thinking in our modern life. Should we influence again our youth to take this important decision while they are still young, or let them develop at their own way? In modern life, marriage under eighteen should not be considered for various reasons.

First, the economy isn't going well these days. The couple can't rely on their parents once they are married. A matrimony doesn't compose completely with just loving one another, there has to be responsibility, dedication, and cooperation from both sides to maintain the relationship.

Second, teenagers under the age of eighteen doesn't have the maturity enough to carry a marriage. This issue brings lack of communication and can end up in a divorce. It is very probable that they can't figure out their problems with the capacity that an adult should do it. The majority of teenagers has their dreams to follow and they didn't want to put themselves obstacles in their way.

Finally, if the couple decide to have children, things can get worse to maintain the relationship. It can bring constant argues between and cause any stress. It bring more weight to the economic issues and can lead to end things in a wrong way. The worst thing of this is that the child has to pay the mistakes of their parents even if they hadn't to do anything about it.

Opponents say that marriage under eighteen should be considered because it's good to have compromises at an early age therefore being prepared for the future. This point has some merit on the surface. However, this people have to recognize that times have changed. Lifestyles and new ways of thinking are constantly developing in society and we have to respect other decisions.

In conclusion, there are various reasons of why marriage under the age of eighteen should not be considered. It's better

Marriage has gone through profound changes over the last five decades, but we continue to speak about it as though it's the same old familiar pattern. To see how much has changed; I am going to look at the shift from the forties, to the sixties, to today. In 1968, less than a year after the famous Summer of Love, as they used to say out in the country, "The times they were a-changing." The sexual revolution, Viet Nam, drugs--the youth of the day were convinced the world would never be the same again. Yet they didn't think about how such changes would affect marriage. It seemed as if they thought it would be about the same as it had been for their parents, except better because they (like most youth of most times) thought they were better than…

Marriage occurred at a later age (mid- to late-twenties for men, early to mid-twenties for women) in the 16th-18th centuries than it had previously in Europe and England. One reason for this shift was that, in a time of population growth, it took couples longer to accumulate the capital needed to raise a family. Parents were…

According to the World Health Organization child marriage “denies a girl her childhood, disrupts her education, limits her possibilities, and increases her risk of violence and jeopardizes her health” (NCBI, Paragraph 7). Young girls are forced to marry elderly men to help their families pay for basic necessities or pay off a family debt. In many countries, the marriageable age for women is abnormally low due to the fact the government set two different legal ages for men and women; in some countries the legal age of consent for girls is as low as sixteen. The leaders of such countries attempt to justify these legal limits of girls by saying—stating that girls mature faster than boys. However, I believe that girls should be allowed to mature and live with their parents until they are old enough to marry a suitor of their…

Getting married at a young age can be negative for several reasons. The many reasons why people get married at a young age could be because of love, lust, for financial support, to become a citizen, or due to an unexpected pregnancy. A lot of times young adults confuse sexual attraction with love or confuse a need for financial security with love for their partner. There is a very fine line between love and lust because the two of them are closely related. Lust is an incredibly strong feeling that can be almost uncontrollable, leading it to commonly be mistaken for love. Not being able to tell the difference between lust and love can lead these young adults to an unhealthy relationship which can lead to eventual failure such as abuse. Another reason why some get married at a young age is for financial support. There are several disadvantages to young teenage girls getting married to older men for the use of their financial support. They can suffer many emotional and physical effects from getting married so early in life. In addition, many people get married young become a citizen of this country. One can easily get into the United States legally and become a citizen through a legitimate marriage. The risks of marriage to become a citizen of the United States can include a combination of fines, prison up to five years and deportation. Finally, the most common cause is unexpected pregnancy. Most of the time when a young couple has sexual relationships without any kind of protection is because they are too young and do not have much information about that. Families prefer to keep appearances, and they force them to get married. The effect of marriage due to an unexpected pregnancy can lead to many different problems. One problem would be that teen mothers are more likely to drop out of high school. Secondly, having a child at a young age is risky for both mother and baby. Teen pregnancies carry a higher risk of health…

In over half a century, marriage has transformed from being a social requirement to simply being an option in today’s society. What has caused this change? Many institutions in our society have changed drastically along with marriage. Although these institutions have not caused marriage to be optional, they do strongly correlate with the decreased value. The economy, education, religion, and government have all altered since the 1950s. When any institution encounters a change, all other institutions are affected. Family is a major institution in society, and I believe that marriage is an important aspect of this institution. Cohabitation, religion, women in the work world and divorce have all effected the way marriage is viewed today.…

A lot more states say that a child can be 16 years old, sometimes only with parental approval, to get married. To me, this is still not ok. At 16 kids should be focused on school, getting their driver’s license and maybe a part time job, not marriage or having kids. What makes people think that any age under 21 would be acceptable to get married? People are so young at 14, 16, 18 years old and should still be learning about life and themselves, that in my opinion, marriage should not even be considered. I also don’t see why anyone would let their child get married before they would be old enough…

    The Best Age to Married

Laws states that the age that the men can get married is 20 and women is 18. As for me, it is not the best age to get married. I think the best age to get married is around 25 to 30. At these ages, people are mature enough in their thought and have a stable job because it helps them in future and also in society. Generally, young persons who graduate from universities are at the age of around 22 to 23. After that, they have to take time to find a job. They need to spend many years to get experiences, to strengthen their relationship with others, to take their positions in work, and to have high salary. At this time, I think that it’s the perfect time to think about family because they may have enough money to earn their life, fully independent from their parents and having own decisions to solve difficulty problems themselves. Furthermore, at the age of around 25 to 30 they are mature enough to give birth, to bring up and to take care of their children . If they get married after the age of 30, it is not good for a woman to have a baby. According to the research of American Society for Reproductive Medicine, from 30 onwards the fertility of women starts to decline. This decline is relatively gradual for the next years and the amount of the hormone testosterone of the men (the necessary for the growth of sperm) began to decline in the male body and the scientific research shows that it will badly affect to the children in the future if their mothers are pregnant at the age more than 30. Therefore, when they have a stable career and success in life, the best age they should get married is around 25 to…

During the 80’s and 90’s, many people marry at their early age as early as fifteen. As time passes, this trend was no longer practiced as people believe that more than halves who marry at their early age will be divorced when they reached their middle age. However, in today’s era, the practices of youthful marriages have become a trend once again, either because they love each other or arranged by their parents. For example, a famous video of a 16-years-old boy who married to a 14-years-old girl proves to us that teenagers nowadays believe that youthful marriage is a way to express their love in a right way. As a matter of fact, it does not really matter what age we get married as long as our marriage lasts forever and we live happily with our spouse. A famous American spokesman, once quoted in his book, ‘don’t marry the person you think you can live with; marry only the individual you think you can’t live without.’ Every girl in this world has the same dream: a perfect future husband – a person who will lead the wife to a better life and help her to overcome difficulties. On the other hands, some people may find failures to choose the right life partner; therefore, it is always important to know what we are looking for in the future. As for me, I have highlighted some characteristics of a person who I want to marry to.…
