The company that we have visited is the Pepsi Cola Product Philippines Inc Davao Plant, in order for us to identify impacts of one of the big corporations here in Philippines. This will enable us to harness our skill in identifying impacts and providing measures. This study will enable us to learn something which will help us on the future as marketers and on the business fields.
Pepsi Philippines became a Filipino corporation in 1985 when the Pepsi-Cola Distributors of the Philippines Inc. led by the Escaler clan acquired franchising and bottling rights. In 1989, Premier Beverages, under Luis Lorenzo Sr. and the AFP-RSBS assumed majority ownership of the company and renamed it Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines Inc.Manufacture of soft drinks. Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines Inc. is a Philippines-based company engaged in manufacturing, sales and distribution of carbonated soft-drinks (CSDs), noncarbonated beverages (NCBs) and confectionery products. The Company distributes its products to retail, wholesale, restaurants and bar trades. The Company operates in two business segments: CSD and NCB categories. The Company’s main products under its CSD category include brands Pepsi-Cola, 7Up, Mountain Dew, Mirinda, and Mug. The NCB brand category includes Gatorade, Tropicana/Twister, Lipton, Sting energy drinks and Propel fitness water. The Company is a licensed bottler of PepsiCo, Inc. and Pepsi Lipton International Limited in the Philippines.
The following are used by the Pepsi Cola Davao Plant to reduce its waste from water, solid and atmosphere:
Waste Water Treatment - By using the waste water treatment it will enable the plant to lessen their waste water during its operation.
Air Pollution Control (Scrubber) - Air pollution Control or the “Scrubber” enables to minimize or eliminate the polluted smoke which was released by the machines. They help prevent waste materials from entering the environment. Recycling and pollution control reduces the use of our natural resources, saves the planet space.
Nano Filtration - Nano Filtration enables to clean and purify the water from the deep well which now can be used for the production and operations daily.
Pepsi Cola Davao is located in Dumoy Toril Davao City beside the highway of Pham Philippines., its projects such as the “Scrubber” and its “Waste Water Treatment” is also located inside the plant.
Waste Water Management
Because we use water to make our products, maintaining the highest quality standards for consumers means using the best water possible. At the same time, it is essential that we treat water as the limited resource it is by optimizing our water-use through greater efficiency, innovative processes and new technologies.
PepsiCo's goal to improve water-use efficiency by 20 percent per unit of production by 2015 versus a 2006 baseline applies to global manufacturing operations as they existed in 2006, excluding major acquisitions in 2009 and 2010. For these operations through 2010, PepsiCo has improved water-use efficiency by 18.7 percent for foods manufacturing, and 17.8 percent for beverage manufacturing. These conservation efforts translate to a water savings of nearly 13.8 billion liters compared with the 2006 baseline.
An important way to improve our water-use efficiency is by conserving water in our plants. To achieve these conservation goals, we embed conservation practices into the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing facilities, including a water component of our successful Resource Conservation (ReCon) tool. With this tool, our manufacturing facilities conduct self-audits of their water management practices, and identify and respond to water conservation improvements by mapping all water-use streams within the facility, and assigning relative values to each of these streams based on the local cost of water.
