Marijunana legalization essay
“Children are growing up with a total lack of respect for the Constitution and for the law," Pauline Sabin, the first woman to sit on the Republican National Committee, said in regard to prohibition in 1932. "The young see the law broken at home and upon the street," she added. "Can we expect them to be lawful?”

In my opinion, along with the MAJORITY of my youth, I think that Marijuana should be legalized and that we should ban all tobbaco products nationally. Why? Well not to state the obvious, but weed hasn’t killed anyone, Tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable death in the United States, imposing a terrible toll in health, lives and dollars on families, businesses and government. Tobacco kills more than 400,000+ people annually – more than AIDS, alcohol, car accidents, illegal drugs, murders and suicides combined. Tobacco costs the U.S. more than $96 billion in health care expenditures and $97 billion in lost productivity each year. While the United States has made major progress against tobacco use, nearly one in five Americans still smokes, and more than 3,000 kids try their first cigarette each day. 0 people in recorded history have ever died of marijuana use alone. Lung diseases that arise from the inhaling of carcinogens created by the combustion of organic material may have caused some. But that is not because of marijuana alone. THC is one of the safest chemicals known to man. 70 people or so a year dies while high, but that doesn't mean that marijuana had any impact at all over why they died. Some people go to the emergency room because they are having a panic attack and the people they are with are too stupid to recognize this and took them to the emergency room. A panic attack is no need to go to the emergency room. There are plenty of things to do to calm them down. YOU CAN NOT OVERDOSE ON THC REALISTICALLY. IT IS THE SAFEST CHEMICAL KNOWN TO MAN. YOU WOULD HAVE TO SMOKE 5 POUNDS OF IT IN 50 MINUTES TO DIE. YOU ARE MORE LIKELY TO DIE

According to multiple tests and the statistics more people have died from cigarettes and alcohol. Marijuana should be legal due to the shear fact that it is safer than alcohol and cigarettes. Marijuana to this day, after 79 years, in some places is still illegal and believed to be more dangerous than cigarettes. This myth is 100% false. About 6 million people die every year from smoking cigarettes including second hand smoke. Statistics show that by 2030 the annual death rate will be 8 million. compare this to virtually nobody dying from a direct cause of Marijuana smoking the numbers are gradually in favor of Marijuana being safer. In fact it takes a consumption of 15 pounds of Marijuana in 15 minutes to “overdose”, which still may not even be fatal. In the film Super High Me,…

Marijuana is not as dangerous of a drug as some others that are available on the market for treating diseases. I personally know a friend whose family member was prescribed highly addictive painkillers after a back surgery. He then became addicted to them and was constantly having “accidents” that would end him up in the hospital just to get that feeling he was looking for, he even went as far as to crash his car into a tree resulting in his death. I believe that marijuana should become completely legal and be regulated just like tobacco. In other countries you can go to coffee shops and purchase marijuana and products that contain THC the chemical in marijuana that makes you feel high. I believe that like alcohol and tobacco marijuana can be one of those drugs that is easily taxed and generate a large amount of revenue for our government. Also it would save the government billions since many people less people would be going to jail for marijuana lessening the amount of money spent on these people in prison and the many other legal fees that come with prosecuting and detaining people. Many people in Colorado voted for the legalization of recreational marijuana because they said that about half of the money generated by it will go toward public schools (Legalizing). The effects of marijuana are less detrimental than alcohol in the temporary and lasting…

As a citizen of the United States I feel that if the drug can medically help people that have illnesses then it should be reclassified and legalized. However, I feel that their need to be rules in place for patients that use the drug so it isn’t abused. Physicians that have patients that would benefit from the drug need to ensure that the proper screenings are performed. These screening should help determine if the drug will be benfitcal and help it’s users with their…

Marijuana, an herb with over two hundred common names including weed, pot, and bud, is a mixture of green and brown dried shredded leaves of the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa. Marijuana may be used for recreational and medical use as a psychoactive substance. It contains a chemical called THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). When marijuana smoke is inhaled, THC passes through the lungs, bloodstream, and other organs in the body, including the brain. Marijuana has many benefits that general Americans are unaware of, and with this in mind, marijuana should be legalized. There are several reasons for this. First marijuana should be legal due to its helpfulness in treating cancer patients and chronic diseases. Secondly, there is no reason why alcohol and cigarettes should be legal and marijuana should not be. Finally, marijuana does not cause physical addiction.…

Beginning with one of the first solutions to reduce jail or prison overcrowding could be something as simple as just modernizing our laws. A very common law that can land a lot of people in jail is possession of marijuana. Police officers can make up to 1 possession of marijuana arrest every 37 seconds in the United States according to some research done by the American civil liberties Union(ACLU). If you stop and think about the numbers it will truly let you see that this might be one of the biggest issues we face with jail overcrowding. During the past few decades, marijuana legalization has been on the rise, with already four states in the union who have legalized the use of cannabis. We can only hope that the rest of the nation follows the example and cease wasting taxpayers dollars on a never-ending battle. Another research you will find that for federal…

What many people do not understand about marijuana is that it is a safe drug and not all drugs are bad drugs. “Marijuana is far less dangerous than alcohol or tobacco. Around 50,000 people die each year from alcohol poisoning. Similarly, more than 400,000 deaths each year are attributed to tobacco smoking. By comparison, marijuana is nontoxic and cannot cause death by overdose.” (NORML, 2015). Marijuana comes in third behind alcohol and tobacco as the most popular recreational drugs. There has never been a death due to marijuana due to the fact that is is nearly impossible to overdose and it is “nontoxic”. It is very confusing to many people as to why this drug is illegal when looking at how safe it is compared to things like alcohol and tobacco…
