WEEKLY M4 AND M4A1 CARBINE MAINTENANCE
AFZC-JIS SOP 001-111 16 June 2014 1. PURPOSE: All Soldiers in 3rd Platoon will conduct weekly maintenance of their M4 or M4A1 carbine weapon.

2. APPLICABILITY: 3d Platoon, Fox Troop, 2d Squadron

3. REFERENCES:
a. Lubricate order (LO)
b. STP 21–1–SMCT
c. TM 9–1005–319–10
d. DA Form 2404, Equipment Inspection and Maintenance Worksheet

4. RESPONSIBILITIES: All Soldiers will complete M4 and/or M4A1 carbine weapon maintenance weekly. All Soldiers will draw their individual weapons on Wednesday of every week at the arms room NLT 0900. Maintenance will be conducted at building 131, next to the company supply office. Soldier will return weapon to the arms room NLT 1600 on Wednesday. Soldier will complete three copies of DA FORM 2404. Soldier will submit one copy to Platoon Sergeant and one copy to the armor. Soldier will retain one copy for his or her records.

5. PROCEDURES:
a. All weapons will be disassembled IAW TM 9–1005–319–10; All pieces will be kept in a central location on a clean surface.
b. All Soldiers will conduct a PMCS IAW TM 9–1005–319–10 and any deficiencies will be properly annotated on 3 copies of a DA FORM 2404.
c. All weapons will be cleaned thoroughly IAW TM 9–1005–319–10.
d. All weapons will be lubricated with CLP.
e. All weapons will be reassembled properly and a function check will be conducted IAW TM 9–1005–319–10.
f. All weapons will be properly cleared in the clearing barrel prior to return to the unit armor.
g. All weapons will be returned to the unit armor NLT 1600 the same day they are drawn for weekly maintenance.
