Lunar Effect Experiment Hypothesis
Project proposal
Purpose
To test whether the lunar effect is a reality or simply a myth, I will conduct a study to see if there is any correlation between the lunar phases and birth rate.
Independent variable: Lunar phases
Dependent variable: Birth rate

Background
The lunar effect is the idea that there is a correlation between the lunar phases and changes in living beings on Earth, including humans.
Many people believe that the lunar effect on birth rate causes more babies to be born around a full moon, but different studies have found different results.
In Phoenix, between 1995 and 2000 a study was conducted to test this theory and the results were that although there exists a popular

I will begin by asking 150 people when they were born. Then, I will research every single birthday and figure out what phase of the moon occurred on that day. Finally, I will group the birthdays in the different phases and count them. I will then have a conclusion and will be able to observe if the different phases really do affect birth rate.

Materials
Pen and Paper
A sample of 150 birth dates
Lunar calendars for the years of the birth dates

Procedure
Collect and record the birth dates of 150 people
Record when each birth date occurred in relation to the phases of the moon, ex: April 24, 2002 was 3 days after the First Quarter, and 3 days before the Full Moon
Group the birth dates into groups of phases and count the number of birth dates that occurred each day for the six days surrounding each main lunar phase
Make a conclusion based on data

Contribution to society
My project could help improve the Earth by proving this theory to be accurate or not. If this theory is accurate, scientists could have an advantage on predicting populations all over the world. This could also help with the observation of the lunar phases and their effect on living

As the director and dramaturge for a fully mounted production of, Ruby Moon by Matt Cameron for a festival with a focus on Australian society I must select a relevant scene for an audience to promote the entire play. Ruby Moon was written in 2003 by Matt Cameron (1969), a Melbourne playwright who was heavily “influenced by headlines in the newspaper” regarding missing children which sparked many of his plot lines. His plays, in particular Ruby Moon, comment on the notion of a decimated community where there is no longer any communication between neighbours and how the suburbs are now deemed as unsafe and frightening. This is the paradox of Flaming Tree Grove, the street where Ruby Moon sets off to visit her grandmothers and is never seen again.…

One problem with this research is that it was a lab experiment so the conditions were artificial. This means it lacks ecological validity as it doesn’t reflect real life situations. However, the research does have high internal validity because it measured what they hypothesised and it is possible to repeat the experiment.…

Our Planet Hunter Team from Lick Observatory possibly found a new planet. We are an observatory owned by the University of California and focus on astronomical observations. This Object X (to be determined as a planet) it does not seem to be a round-shape form, orbits the sun, Object X’s moon is 57,783 kilometers between Object X, Object X’s moon takes 32.17 days to do one full orbit, and crosses Pluto. These factors of Object X have similar factors of an actual planet. The International Astronomical Union (IAU) explains a planet must orbit the sun, has enough mass to be nearly-round shape due to gravity, and has a clear neighborhood around the object’s orbit. Our team will use Kepler’s Third Law (an equation used by using the information…

Two ways that Scientist may study and find the interior of the Earth are with Meteorites and Magnetic Fields. The scientist may use meteorites to discover the interior of the Earth's earlier solar system by studying the meteorites that arrived on the Earth. The scientist might use magnetic fields by the science advances which involves measuring the ocean and coming up with a hypothesis. Therefore, the meteorites and the magnetic fields all help scientist discover the interior of the Earth.…

The sun and the moon form part of our universe, where they both hold their own power and value. The sun is in the center of the solar system with nine planets moving around it. The light given from the sun helps us experience the day and the night. After the sun, the moon is the the brightest object in the sky. Though the light that shines at night does not originate from the moon, it is reflected by sunlight. Their differences from each other are responsible for the life that we live in this Earth. Knowing about the sun and moon we can relate their relationship to the Spanish and the Aztec. The Aztec hold the position of the sun. When they first settled on the swampy island called Tenochtitlan, it became…

The discussion on demographic trough is the most interesting part that reminds me of a scenario in China. Chinese people have superstitious belief in twelve Chinese zodiac signs (a twelve-year cycle represented by twelve different animals), that is, the birth year is an important factor for a baby. The baby born in “dragon year” is supposed to have more fortune and intelligence. Therefore, every dragon year in every 12-year cycle will have a demographic peak. The hospitals and schools would be crowded in these years. And those babies are subject to more competition and source shortage. However, every “Sheep year” will suffer a demographic trough. It would be ironic if the author’s analysis is true, as people born in demographic troughs are more likely to be successful. Maybe it is not, because the current social environment in China is different from that in US in early 20th…
