Like Water For Chocolate Character Analysis Essay

Imagine if you were forbidden to marry the one you love and were declared to be your mother’s servant until the day she dies. Would you stick around to see the damage you can cause your loved ones or would you leave to lessen the pain for everyone? In the novel Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel we are shown different sides of every character, especially Tita. Tita has the option to be rescued by Doctor John Brown but she declines his offer to be a mistress who suffers pain from the deaths of everyone around her. Many think Tita is a victim that deserves pity for the life and rules she was given, but she also plays the rule of a villain, she decides to stay and ruin her relationship with her family members instead of moving on making her own life and family, which contributes to her own downfall.
Once Tita’s sister Rosaura married Pedro whom is Tita’s soul mate, they conceived a baby named Roberto. Tita is devastated by Rosaura’s actions and cannot believe she would go so far to such as breaking their sisterly bond. When Rosaura’s breast become dry she is no longer able
Their first night alone, secluded from everyone was the night they were able to make love passionately while at peace, which caused the instant death of Pedro, leading to the death of Tita. She found her reason for life, it was Pedro, and wherever Pedro went, she wanted to be right by his side. “Little by little her vision began to brighten until the tunnel again appeared before her eyes. There at its entrance was the luminous figure of Pedro waiting for her” (231). The years Tita stayed around Pedro caused endless amounts of love and sparks to build up. If Tita did not stay around, her and Pedro would be alive. Tita could have spent her life alive and healthy with Doctor John Brown knowing that Pedro was also alive and
