Lifestyle Essay

I describe my lifestyle as a home-buddy person. I always stay in the house except on certain occasions where I have to travel for family gatherings or attend to unplanned errands. But whenever possible, I would prefer to stay home and watch my favorite TV shows or movies and be with my family. I also like to cook and barbeque for everyone in the house. And just like a typical Filipino family who prefer to live all together, my family is big. I’m glad my parents invested on a sizable house early on to be able to accommodate our growing family.

I live in a sizable home. It is a two story house with a receiving/living room, a bedroom, a family room, a dining room, a kitchen, a full bathroom, a laundry area, and a car garage on the first floor and several bedrooms, bathrooms, and a computer area in the second floor of the house. When you enter the house through the front door on the right side of the house, you would initially see the receiving/living room with three black-colored couches and a large brown coffee table on your right side, the bedroom with a huge door and the stairs leading to the second floor on your left side, a tiled flooring and light painted walls. Right next to the receiving/living room is the family room that is divided by a built-in low structure where my mother displays her eye-catching, beautifully made figurines on top of that structure. And when you’re in the family room, the built-in low structure that separates the room from the receiving/living room is also the structure that houses the gas-operated fire place on one side and the TV/entertainment center on the other side. Facing the fire place and the TV is a sectional couch. There is a ceiling fan with leaf-shaped blades on the ceiling. Right next to the sectional couch is a large mirror attached to the wall and a side round table that is directly facing the front door, it is the only thing that separates the family room to the dining room. The dining

The living room, or family room, is generally considered the main gathering area in most homes due to the television being located there. However, this is not the case in the more than one hundred year old, light grey, two story home in which I live. The main attraction of this particular living room is the comforting atmosphere and warm fires that take place in the wood-burning fireplace.…

I think that these events foreshadowed Okonkwo’s and the Ibo tribe’s demise because every single one of the events affected Okonkwo negatively and led to some of change in his life. It starts with Okonkwo’s father being a bum in the tribe and neglecting his responsibility to his family. His death was also degrading because his body was thrown in the forbidden forest and Okonkwo always worked towards not becoming someone like him. However, at the end Okonkwo’s “burial” is the same and he becomes the failure he tried to avoid. He considered himself a failure because he was unable to rid the tribe of the colonists because he could see that the culture was diminishing but he failed to bring the tribe to fight after his exile. He was exiled because he killed a boy at the wedding which he was invited to after he killed Ikemefuna so that he could clear his mind with a distraction. Overall, every event led to something which foreshadowed Okonkwo’s demise as well as the tribe’s.…

    1. Why might efficiency increase when a company is privatized, that is, converted from government ownership to private ownership? Could efficiency decrease? When a company is privatized efficiency can increase. When the government owns the factors of production there is little opportunity or incentive to design better products or pursue new technology. I haven’t visited for many years but I visited so much as a child I do not need a tour. The ceilings are very high and I can barely see them in the darkness of the night. The walls all have lovely paintings covering them. I can tell the interior design has been thoroughly thought out and the colour scheme is gold, black and red. When I finally make it up the many flights of stairs to the 6th floor of the building where my room is situated I thank the butler for taking care of me and go inside. The first thing I notice is how dark the room is. The only source of light is the moon light shining through the window, which casts a mysterious glow across the room. I quickly go to the fireplace and light it to provide me with not just light but warmth as I am cold from my trek. After successfully lighting the fire I light a candle next to my bed. I then finally have a look around my room. It looks as if they had set this room up for me with months’ notice, but in truth they only found out a week ago they would be taking me in. there is a lovely vanity on one side of the room, a wardrobe full of lovely clothing and many expensive pieces of furniture laid out around the room. Deciding to thoroughly look through my room in the morning I find a gown to wear to bed and go to…

Our summer vacation cabin had wooden front steps and two narrow glass doors that opened inward. The living room was large and contained a small television that sat on a glass stand. In front of the television was a couch and lounge chair that didn’t match. They smelled of old perfume and dust. Pictures of seagulls and lighthouses hung firmly against the walls. Credenzas were filled with decretive plates, and trinkets. Large windows filled the sunroom, and kitchen with spectacular views, as well as the bedroom. As I explored the property, I gazed through the windows of the garage. It appeared to be under construction for some sort of room conversion. Carpet had been laid, and a water heater was installed.…

Identity is the qualities or beliefs that make a particular person or group different from others. It’s a form of self discovery. When we find who we are, we can be happy, we accept ourselves, even though others may not. In the novels, Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, and Autobiography of a Face, by Lucy Grealy, the main characters Jacob and Lucy both have identity issues. In Water for Elephants, Jacob has to learn to accept himself as an elder. Additionally, in Autobiography of a face, Lucy grew up with facial cancer and a disfigured face making it hard for her to be accepted in society. Both characters from both novels had to endure challenges to identify who they were as a person.…
