Dear 6th grade student, Do you have a lot of nightmares with zombies, ghosts, and other scary nightmares? You probably do because us humans have a lot of conflict in our bodies. I want give you some advice for writing a good story. A reader is a small book filled with many short stories that can be fiction or nonfiction. I have two stories in my reader that can back up my advice and explanation. The first story is titled Leveraging the Humans Brains Hunger For Story by Doug Rekenthaler, Jr. The second story is titled is Brain Secrets by Lisa Cron. Let me tell you my advice. In the text Leveraging the Humans Brains for Hunger, from lines 70-72, the author stated that “we are there with the character”. This means that we feel what the character is feeling and that you would be in the story. If you have a negative or intense part in your story, the reader will not put the book down. The reader is following the book. In the text Brain Secrets from lines 40-43, the author states that “people would rather read a fiction book than a nonfiction book”. This is true because fiction has more imagination and can have more intense or negative parts in a story. We humans crave and dig for stories that has negativity because of the cortisol and oxytocin which are chemicals inside of our bodies. You would be following the character and take part in the story with the character. The purpose of this letter is to give you two pieces of advice that can help you with your story writing. My two pieces of advice for writing stories is that you need a good amount of passion or what drives you to write and you need a good structure or framework for your writing.
