Bob Marley one stated, “herb is the healing of a nation, and alcohol is the destruction". Marijuana is a green or gray mixture of dried, shredded flowers and leaves of the hemp plant Cannabis sativa that is typically smoked but can mixed and cooked in food. It contains the mind altering chemical THC or tetrahydrocannabinol. Marijuana looks like a mixture of dried leaves, sticks and flowers. It can range in color from green to brown. There are over two hundred names for the drug; weed, Mary Jane, and pot are some of the most popular ones. Long-term marijuana abuse can lead to addiction for some people. Drug craving and withdrawal symptoms can make it hard for long-term marijuana smokers to stop abusing the drug. People trying to quit typical have irritability, sleeplessness, and anxiety. Over the past decades society's views concerning marijuana has evolved because of new research studies. New research has been found leading to the legalization of the drug. Marijuana is the number one abused illegal drug in the United States. It is used by roughly one hundred million people in the United States. Due to the research I have found I believe marijuana should be legalized because some users can benefit from use of the drug, marijuana is legal in twenty- four states, and I don’t find marijuana more harmful than alcohol which is a legal
