Learner Scenario: Nia's Overconfidence '
Learner Scenario - Nia

Nia’s overconfidence is preventing her from completing her assignment to standard. I feel that Nia would have benefited greatly had she adjusted her learning patterns. She could have concentrated more on her Precise skill by asking for guidance on the assignment, and less on her Confluence which had her doing things her own way. Instead of using one of her skills over the other, she should have tethered her three Use First skills. By allowing her strengths to work together as opposed to relying on them independently, her assignments would be more on par with what is expected. She also needs to learn how to control her level of confidence. Confidence is a great asset, especially in the military, but it prevents you from

Toya has some good traits that any employer likes to see in their employees but like any other employee she has room for growth. My perception is that Toya would get defensive if she gets negative feedback or constructive criticism. If I was mentoring her, I would have corrected her mistakes on the spot, so that she could see with her own eyes what she had done wrong.…

After watching The Myth of the Average Learner it gave me a new insight on teaching. As a teacher we should strive to make it possible for all student to succeed. As teachers we should try new methods of teaching and give students options on how to do problems. I know in high school I had a math teacher that would give different ways to do the math then the next year I had a teacher only give one way to do the problems. I struggled with some of the work because I could not wrap my brain around it. As a teacher trying to teach to all student and not the average way is going to have its challenges. Some of those challenges are finding new ways to teach something, trying to find the right electronics and apps. Some of technology and apps are…

I I'm an Introverted iNtuitive Thinking Judging Learner (INTJ) that is very self-confidence in the things I do as a human on this earth. I do also understand some of my weaknesses due to my knowledge of self-confidence is great in a lot of areas but can harm me in interpersonal situations. This is from me having little patience and less understanding on small talk. I'm a type of person that feels when I know something I stick to it, then that's because I know it. Since many people don't think as clearly as an INTJ, I tend to think that I know better than others, things my own way. I'm a perfectionist, but I'm also highly organized so that I can get things done, even if it takes longer than expected. Put this all together and I agree with…

I found many of the topics discussed in Becoming a Learner useful, but the things I found most useful were how most college students go into college and how it is wrong. Sanders describes how many students go into college with the assumption that college will give them a good life. Talking about this he says, “The problem with this conversation is that it can turn education into an obligation instead of an opportunity” (Sanders 26). I can relate to this because many times I have thought that college would be the reason I can have a good life. Thinking this way makes college seem like an obstacle to overcome, instead of an opportunity to learn new skills and to experience life.…
