Leadership Philosophy Statement
The utmost important aspect of a leader is their ultimate goal, which brings me to my question. What is my goal as a leader in the various phases of my life and career? My ultimate goal is to inspire those who are committed to my leadership. To inspire them to achieve greatness, to surpass their own expectations, to become leaders themselves - these are my aspirations. If I do not succeed in accomplishing this, then, I will be lacking a key piece of what separates the average from the exemplary. Most people cannot simply join an organization and learn to lead it without any assistance, especially if they have had little to no interest concerning it in the past. Unfortunately, I learned this while serving in my local Future Farmers of America chapter. For the past four years - three of which I have been an officer - we have had a different volunteer advisor for each new school year, and it became obvious why there were so many turnovers. How much better would it have been if the upper class students with experience in the FFA had shown the leadership they pride themselves on, and attempted to show the volunteers the inner workings of the group? Fortunately, my team took this initiative recently to institute a more thorough interview process, and to double our efforts to make ourselves available to the …show more content…
Though they do not come about often, they have invaluable wisdom to impart: much like my current Business Professionals of America advisor. She has not only inspired me to improve myself, but to also strive to become a leader in the form of the current president of the BPA chapter. With the position as president, and the aid of my advisor, I hope to lead my fellow members to be greater than they believe themselves to be. I intend to do this by using the knowledge I have gained through attaining my MOS Master certification and attending the BPA state

Taking ENES 317 has exposed me to lot of knowledge such as one leadership/Management skills, personality types, approaches to problems and decision making. In the past, I believed that leadership was a quality that could be learned and taught, but I also thought that leadership would best fit people with some personal trait such as charisma or personality of an extrovert people. With the knowledge gained from this leadership course, I came up with an individual Bill Gates who is successful in leading but an introvert, and he has successfully managed to influence others, who virtually revitalize our personal computers/phones and way of shopping. However, some of the things I knew about leadership before taking ENES317 was that a good leader should be open to new ideas, forgiving to his/her followers, and demonstrate humility. I still believe that without these qualities a leader can only become arrogant in their leadership that their behavior may isolate them from their followers. My focuses on this paper will be to analyze the self-assessments test taken in class and the leadership theories presented in class.…

Repeatedly throughout our conference, we have heard the need for LEADERS. Our keynote speaker, Fumbi Chima, Vice President of International Integrations for Walmart, emphasized this, in addition to the alumni panel that spoke earlier in the conference. Leaders need to innovate. We must ask what and why. Our focus must be on people. And on doing the right things. We must develop. Inspire trust. And always challenge the status quo. Don’t tell what could be done, rather act.…

I seek to become a person who exemplifies truthfulness, understanding, and creativity. I seek situations that are devoid of these values, and use myself as an example of these qualities in action to bring about the change I came to implement. These values are basic categories from Rath’s (2007) StrengthsFinders 2.0 inventory, as well as the characteristics of an ethical leader from Covey’s (1991) treatise of the ideal leader. The findings from Rath’s assessment reveal that ideation, intellection, adaptability, restorative, and strategic are my strengths. Ideation is the trait that calls for me to connect themes between disparate phenomena, and a fascination about generating ideas (Rath, 2007, StrengthsFinder 2.0, p. 113). Intellection describes my introspective nature in addition to my longing and appreciation of intellectual discussion (Ibid, p. 129). Adaptability refers to my capacity to be flowing with occurrences in life, with very little attachment to the fruition of expectations (Ibid, p. 45). My restorative strength alludes to my natural problem solving capability, and my desire to decipher what is ill of a situation (Ibid, p. 153). Lastly, my assessment informed that I am strategic in finding relevant patterns and issues, and finding alternative ways to proceed in a given scenario (Ibid, p. 165).…
