Week 1
Today has been my first day of practicum. Well, I have to say that is not my first day in this school because I did my last practicum at this school too. So it wasn’t a novelty for me. Today has been a “relaxing” day in the way that it has been my presentation in all the groups, and I have only observed to see the teacher dynamics with all the classrooms. Well, I have participated by helping the students when they were doing the activities to become familiar with them.
Week 2
Today I’ve been with another English specialist, who is not the one assigned to me, for almost all the day. As I have observed during all along the day, and as the teacher explains me at the beginning of the day, she has some problems with some groups behave. Some groups have this bad behaviour because last year they had another English specialist who did nothing at all and all the sessions were a completely chaos. That’s why the students didn’t learn all the contents and now they have a low English level.
Other groups have this behaviour problems they are not interested in English, they think is not useful, and when the tutor is not at class their behaviour decrease. More with the English specialist than with other ones.
Week 3
I have talked to the English specialist about what I have to do during this practicum. If I have only to observe, prepare a lesson plan or something like that.
We have accorded the unit that I will do (the five sessions), more or less the dates when I will do it, and the course where I will teach the lessons (9-A).
Week 4
Today is 18 march the date of anniversary of Çanakkale victory in 1915. So there is programme in school so I couldn’t do my lesson today. After the programme I took a new part for next week and I left the school at midday.
Week 5
I have to design the hand-outs very carefully. They should be structured clearly so that the learners can use them easily and effectively. I should always make a good master copy that I can keep for later use. Therefore, I have to put a lot of effort into the materials because the learners should see that I do my work in a responsible way. As a consequence, they should handle their own work in a responsible way as well.
Week 6
When I was watching the classes I noticed that learners tend to speak Turkish in groups when they get into hot discussions about a topic. In role-plays or information gap activities it was easier for them to keep speaking English because they used the English prompts and that seemed to get them started the right way.
Week 7
Today I have done my first intervention at third course. I arrived at the class and the teacher said to me if I wanted to do it, of course I’ve said yes. The work consist on four worksheets to review and practice vocabulary about sports and I can/can’t. I try to talk all the time in English while I’m explaining what they have to do in each worksheet. We did the worksheets in order, one by one, and every time we did one we corrects it immediately. In general the sessions have gone well, we have done all the work and correct it, students have listened to me, and they have worked in silence. So the general feeling about this firs intervention is positive and encourage me to keep on with my interventions.
Week 8
This week I went school for observing the teachers and taking a part for next week. But the teacher came with a work sheet and wanted me to do it with class. I accepted it and started to study how I can do it. In course I had bit excited in beginnings because it was my first teaching practice. But at the end of the lesson I felt myself cooled. It was my first micro but it is really excited for me. After the course I left school with taking a new part for next week.
Week 9
Today I went school and I was ready for my teaching. It was really good but I make some spelling mistakes but generally it was a good lesson. I never think it was so good. Everything was very good. Students answered all of my questions and they did what I wanted. I was very happy for this lesson. After lesson I talked with my teacher for next week I wanted to make my video record next week so I wanted a full lesson but because of my friends she hadn’t got any lesson so he forward me another teacher and I took my full lesson from her. Later I left the school.
Week 10
Today was a great day for me because I recorded my lesson as a video. I was very excited when I started to teaching. Because of my excited and it was the first full lesson for me I make too much mistakes so it was not my lesson that I had planned before. Because the students were reluctant for the course so I did everything with same students and it affected my motivation so it was really bad lesson. I never do this again.

The strategies was used on Maria that just arrived in the class but has been there for only five months. What I observed was that the teacher has a student helping her and is making sure she is involved in all activities. This will help her build her social development skills. But the downfall is that her speech will not improve since the teacher is really not doing much to help her with her speech. But on a good note he is considering on getting her tested for her speech to make sure she does not have a disability. My second observation was from his E.L.L student, Mikhail. I really don’t see that he is using any strategy to help him when it comes down to his social skills. This might be because He has been in the states a lot longer. This is an advantage he has on Maria when it comes to social development skills. But the teacher is concerned with his writing Since he sees that his level in speaking English is so dominant and it is not falling in place with his writing and he seem a little confused and not sure how to address the situation.…
