Joseph Stalin was one of key figures in 20th century history. He transformed Russia during his time in power. In this essay, I will be discussing the violence Joseph Stalin had imposed against the Soviet Union and the world. Stalin had a long life and a long political career too. Stalin started off studying the marxist revolution and later spent his time and attention towards the revolutionary movement against the Russian monarchy (Gellately, 2013). Stalin later became an activist for fifteen years. Finally, he was a dictator of Soviet Russia from 1929 right up until his death in 1953 (Gellately, 2013). He transformed Russia from a minor rural country into a great and powerful industrial nation. Stalin was the most vicious politician …show more content…
However he was very successful in the plan because his violent five year plan industrialized the Soviet Union.
This portion of the essay will be discussing the cruelty that affected a nation because of Stalin’s communism. Stalin seized assets, including farms and factories, and recognized the economy (Shepley, 2013). However, these efforts led to a less efficient product, resulting in a mass famine that swept the country side (Shepley, 2013). It is directly related to the Russian Revolution and it took place in the 20th century. The research done on Stalin gives me an in-depth understanding on how this Russian Revolution started and what the five year plan was really about. Also this essay revolves around the beginning of the Cold War, it demonstrates the various factors of how this war started. Also, reading about the violence he experienced in his childhood would be the main factor to his violent mentality he had as a ruler, which also falls into the program of Psychology that I’m currently in. I personally wanted to create a persuasive essay on Stalin’s brutality simply because he does not get the same recognition as Hitler. Stalin killed millions of more people than Hitler and was feared by all, but when asking “Who’s the most violent politician ever?” most people would say “Hitler.” I wanted to provide a case for Stalin because I believe he’s the most dangerous politician in the 20th Century.
