JROTC: A Great Way To Practice Teamwork And Leadership
When you think of JROTC what comes to mind? Several thing comes to mind to me. It touches my heart to see everyone working together and having a good time. JROTC is a great way to practice teamwork and leadership. I feel as though the whole universe needs these two attributes and I feel so though JROTC meets them.
JOTC uses teamwork everyday if you think about it. One way the cadets at Rivercrest use teamwork is when we went to the service learning project at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. We all came together to lay mulch, cut bushes, and rack for the five hard working gentlemen there. Without our teamwork we would not have gotten the job done. Everyone knew their duties and they all applied to them.
So when you think of the LET 1’s what

Teamwork was a part of my undergraduate degree. A specific example of a teamwork challenge that I faced was the annual robotic competition. The team was polarized on the subject of the mechanism design. Given time and resource constraints it would not have been possible to allow sub groups to pursue individual projects. The problem was eventually resolved by adopting a design in line with the project objects and which was realizable within the limited time period with budget. As a team leader I filled in the role of a facilitator and kept the team on track in meeting the deliverables. I also ensured that each member got a fair share of participation and could contribute equally since the project was crucial for every engineering student and each of us was there to learn. The effort was successful as the team emerged the 5th best team amongst 50 other participating teams.…

When it comes to teamwork, most people will consider teamwork in terms of being part of a baseball, basketball, or football team. In contrast, a team is “really just a group of people who use their skills, experience, and knowledge to work toward a common goal” (Beverly K. Bachel, 2007). Teams working together in the workplace are extremely productive and profitable. Teams working together increase problem-solving skills and innovation, quality, and decrease turnover and absenteeism. (Scarnati, J 2006) Teams have an overall high success rate when well structured and the communication between the team members stays open throughout the project. A team is a collection of individuals who have gathered to achieve the same…

One word to describe myself would be leadership. As the commander of my high school’s JROTC Drill Team, and the President of the National Technical Honor Society I have had many occasions where I had to step out of my comfort zone and take control of situations. Before joining JROTC I did not know what being a great leader was, but after becoming a squad leader I realized I needed to step out of my comfort zone and be the great leader that my squad deserves. Now three years later I am now the Drill Team commander, which I absolutely love being. I love being a guide for others, to be a supporter for them as they go through difficulty. Being a leader has taught me to be humble, to put others before myself. When being a leader you have to realize…

I had done JROTC throughout high school. This organization had greatly influenced my leadership skills and motivation. However, one particular incident had allowed me to experience true failure, in both the literal and metaphorical sense. Since middle school, I’ve always been the sprinter type, able to run short distances as fast as possible. Once got second place out of the whole school, so it made sense to me to join the Navy Junior R.O.T.C track and field team. After a couple of competitions of doing really well, the team captain thought it would be best for me to serve as the anchor. The anchor runs last to try and catch up to any other opponents and win the race. However, a lot of good sprinters on our team had graduated the previous year…
