Not only this brother wants to visit India but due to workload he was not getting off from office but with the help of internet and computer he is working though work at home. Furthermore internet brings world market at doorsteps. Yes we can buy and sell any item that we want too!!

Whereas I feel internet is also making us dumber because we are getting so dependent on internet. We are not trying any extra efforts to get work done because everything is available on internet which making us lazy. Not only this it also puts a period on our process of thinking. In Nicholas Carr’s book, “The Shallows: What The Internet is Doing to our Brains,” he makes the powerful point that in order to assume technology’s power, especially intellectual technology, we must pay a particularly high price. Carr states this idea in one quote from his book, “The price we pay to assume technologies power is alienation. The toll can be particularly high with our intellectual technologies. the tools of the mind amplify and in turn numb the most intimate, the most human, of our natural capacities- those for reason perception, memory, emotion(pg 211).” This price for intellectual technologies can range from a lowered ability to pull up memorized information, a shorter attention span, having a harder time learning new information, or even a changed perception of our world. All of these points help show how the internet is affecting our brains physically and mentally.…

Another example that Carr presents in which the Internet affects human behaviors is in our speech. “The process of adapting to new intellectual technologies is reflected in the changing metaphors we use to explain ourselves to ourselves” (Carr). I believe that Carr is correct, however, the metaphors only adapt to what we can relate to. It does not mean that this modern speech is negatively affecting our brain as extensively as Carr is claiming. He is not acknowledging the most impressive aspects of modern…

While Google can be convenient if you need a quick answer or need to find information at a moment’s notice. , People should not be using google as an easy way out to answer questions because the students knowing this can also use this search engine to cheat on test so they can avoid retaining information. The students of today also do not have a sense of working for their own academic goals, and this is a problem because the students of this generation do not have to think or brainstorm on anything. The article is Google making us stupid is effective because the author gives multiple detailed examples on both sides of the matter.…

There is a complex debate over the Internet and whether it is making society smarter or dumber. For that matter the debate focuses on the Internet and the intellectuality of individuals, and if the Internet hinders or it progresses society as a whole. Other critics argue that the Internet contributes to the decline of our mental state. On the other hand, others argue that the Internet promotes and encourages literacy by its ability in providing limitless amount of information at the stroke of a key. In the articles, “Does the internet make you smarter” by Clay Shirky supporter of literacy by internet and, “Does the internet make you dumber”, by Nicholas Carr unsupporter of literacy by internet, portrays that each article have different points of views regarding the internet making us smarter or dumber. Clay Shirky uses more historical examples of texts that were written in the form of books way before there was Internet. Nicholas Carr uses more proven statistics and psychological information in his article, to persuade his audience. In the next paragraphs I will compare and contrast both Nicholas Carr and Clay Shirky’s article.…

Technology. Perhaps you’ve heard of it. Did you know that the world holds a record of 36,000,000,000 hours per month? Maybe you have spent your hours with your head in a comfortable position, close to your computer screen tapping away on your keyboard letting the hours slip by through your fingers. Or maybe even using your sore thumbs texting your friends on your latest piece of phone. Children are even using technology to complete their homework and the Internet is just taking over the world without you knowing because of the countless hours you've spent burring your head in the computer screen. Every single piece of technology we use is taking over our lives maybe we even live in technology.…

The internet is a source used for everyday life, and everything from social networking to researching and gaming, but due to the limitless possibilities it is a resulting cause of pure laziness. “As we come to rely on computers to mediate our understanding of the world, it is our own intelligence that flattens into artificial intelligence.” (Carr, N. 2013). These words that depict Kubrick’s dark prophecy in the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey opens the mind of the viewer on the strong impact that technology has on the human brain. Nicholas Carr, the author of the article “Is Google Making Us Stupid? What the Internet Is Doing To Our Brains,” agrees with Kubrick in that although technology is efficient, it may not always be the most effective when it comes to creating overall well-rounded thinking. I agree with Carr on this issue and I have noticed that technology alters the way one thinks, has caused society to become reliant upon it, and in turn strongly impacts college students like myself.…

The internet has been set up in order for us to be able to take advantage of its infinite network of links and sources that ultimately make our lives easier. Anything that used to require effort or remembering something is now looked back on like some old, hazy memory. This topic of how the internet is making us lazy is somewhat close to me because I have always been somewhat of a purist. I always like to know where things are and have them memorized, so that I don’t have to rely on Google Maps for directions. I also like going and shopping at stores rather than online shopping, it makes me feel like I’m actually doing something rather than, and pardon my French, sitting on my ass. In this age, you don’t even have to know or remember how to get places anymore, just look it up on Google maps and you can get anywhere you want without having to know the town, city, or state. If a kid who just got his driver’s license never learns to drive around the area he lives in because he can just look it up online, he just singlehandedly eliminated his chances and motivation to ever need to learn or memorize how to get around where he lives. I am going to share a quote I said to my friend last week, “why would you Google Maps how to get to DP Dough if it’s…
