In a society which inherently seeks to categorise individuals and in which others’ acceptance is based largely on the extent to which one conforms, it is paramount that each person finds their genuine place in the world. Our society is fundamentally based around the often artificial groups to which we belong and the attributes and qualities associated with them. As a result, adherence to the pre-existing guidelines which define these groups, and to the expectations of others, can often be the easiest and is in some cases the only path to fitting in. However, the complexity and depth of our inner being can sometimes require that we go above and beyond others’ ideals…

More so, learning is the cornerstone of our society. From the time we first cry until the time we become seniors. People learn every day from books, teachers, parents, and day to day experiences. Without the skills to learn, there would be no iPod, computers, phones, health technology, doctors, lawyers; the earth would still be flat. Learning is not only beneficial for the future of this country, and society, but also for the future of the world. First of all, the future depends on how much people learn during infancy, or even as an adult. Learning is the process by which individual’s acquire knowledge through observation, education, present or experiences, and individual teaching.…

*Write Your Character- I chose this lesson because it states that we are not to let circumstances shape us, but instead build ourselves in character. It also states that combined with good habits and competence, character creates the building blocks for leadership. These points are very crucial because they express the fact that we can learn from hardship and that in the most difficult times is when we become more open to profound wisdom.…

Self-esteem is how people value themselves; it affects every part of their lives. Positive self-esteem gives people confidence in whatever they do and prevents them from the hardships of rejection or failure. The psychological immune system intertwines with self-esteem by helping people cope with negative responses or outcomes. It allows people to make mistakes and learn from them and give them the ability to accept mistakes from others. In the readings, “Immune to Reality” by Daniel Gilbert, and “ An Army of One: Me” by Jean Twenge, both authors arrive at an agreement that living and facing reality defines a person’s emotions, character, and behavior. In today’s society, raising self-esteem is one of the main priorities schools want to enforce…

Learning real life lessons and finding your place on Earth through your actions and thoughts is one of the most important things in life. It’s your mission on Earth.”(Introduction) Coelho is encouraging the reader to think about his/her own life and how the characters in the book are teaching life’s lessons.…

The world is thus composed of authentic superficial people and others that are superficially authentic. These people can fully take responsibility with who they are and have chosen to deal with it. They have accepted the qualities and flaws that were ‘given’ to them to the point that they managed to reach a level of self-confidence highly superior to those who are unaware of how important being authentic is in one’s life. They are not afraid of showing their true face, even if it isn’t always easy and learn to overcome the judgement of others. However ‘superficial’ people…

Everyone has their own individual identity, but not everyone accepts who they truly are. Many feel the urge to change who they are to fit society’s expectations; to feel included, to be included. Of all these items that will be included below in the context of this paper, learning should be the most fundamental one. Virtually, things that I have learned, I am learning and I will learn in the future throughout actual experiences and potential opportunities have drawn, and will, a huge impact on perception, personality, attitudes, values, and the learning process itself. As a result, this impact will surely bring about certain changes in behaviors based on positive or negative aspects of learning, which more explicitly, positive or negative experiences in a situation (referring to the book). Therefore, it is natural to see that humans are continuously taking the process of forming and reforming whole elements of our personal system through learning. However, it is nevertheless not easy to find out a new suitable learning approach when initially the path is about to twist. Experiments of how to win the right approach out of numerous rounds are deemed to occur. Thus, failures are followed up by it natural. But the best way of learning is just to learn from failure. I remembered that what my skating coach said to me at the first sight was “you should learn how to fall before learning how to skate.” I was deeply confused by what he said to me until one day, I finally got to skate by myself for a complete round on the skating rink with hundreds of thousands if not millions of falling down before. In reality, having those physical sufferings on my body is the best way to teach me to skate since it made me more skilled with cumulated experiences after every single round of failure.…

The great philosopher Socrates said “the unexamined life is not worth living.” We are forced to examine our lives at some point by the pressing questions of our own nature. The answers to questions of our goodness or badness are answered every day by our actions and the actions of those around us. One doesn’t have to look far to see both the best and the worst of who we are as a species.…
