Invasive Species

Over the decades, Invasive species have shown a significant negative impact upon the fabric of the ecosystem. Whether they are endangered or not, in-habitat species are making their presence known throughout the ecosystem, and such, throughout the United States. In fact, Invasive species have posed as a problem within society as around the early colonies of the 1800’s. The uncommon native-species are able to enter through different routes. Some are transported intentionally and others are able to enter through the passage of trading system including shipment voyage or mistaken terrestrial territory. Much has been said that the origins to bring new- habitat species to new environment were to help provide elimination for other invasive species.
For example, One of an earlier example of a specific invasive specie has been the Asian longhorned beetle. Asian longhorned beetles are insects native to China and Korea, and have successfully invaded many parts of the world. Asian longhorned beetles has been found in several Western Hemisphere countries, including Austria, France, Germany, and Italy. These insects have made their presence known through America in most northeastern states(Kevin J. Dodds & David A. Orwig, An Invasive Urban, 2011). So, Cities such as, New york for example, have been in-habitant by these insects based on the fact that these beetles have been introduced through deep wood material found within trees. According to Michael T. Smith(2000), an ARS(Audience Response System) Entomologist, stated that “Trees infested by the Asian longhorned beetles were first found in the United States in New York in 1996, and Chicago in 1998”(Hank Becker, Asian Longhorned Beetles). According to reports from the USDA’s animal and plant health inspection service (APHIS), if this beetle spreads unchecked, it could cause billions of dollars in damage ornamental trees and forests and to the maple syrup, lumber, and tourism industries(Hank Becker, Asian longhorned beetles,2000). For example, one of the PQA (Program Quality Assessment) established federal horticultural board is composed of many representatives from the U.S department of Agriculture Bureau of Entomology. To add on, Agricultural Bureau department main duty is to make sure that any food or natural resource transported to different states within America, must be check after each shipment.
