The company I will talk about for this paper is eBay. eBay is the world's online marketplace; a place for buyers and sellers to come together and trade almost anything. With more than 97 million active users globally, eBay is the world's largest online marketplace, where practically anyone can buy and sell practically anything. Founded in 1995, eBay connects a diverse and passionate community of individual buyers and sellers, as well as small businesses. Their collective impact on ecommerce is staggering: In 2010, the total value of goods sold on eBay was $62 billion -- more than $2,000 every second. I have been interested in eBay since I got first debit card and was able to shop online. eBay’s stock is currently valued at $28.23. It has a market cap of 36.44 billion. It biggest competitor is Amazon, which they happen to come second to in competition. As we all know, eBay is a marketplace on where you find anything from a cell phone charger all the way up to a brand new car. Product information is listed the pages of the sellers (stores). I was looking for information on the tablet device called Toshiba Thrive. Not only does it describe the overview of product, it shows the specifications as well. eBay also shows similar products as well when viewing like products. \ eBay has a lot of ways for consumers can contact them regarding customer support or general questions. There telephone number is 1-866-540-3299. Representatives are available from 5:00am to 10:00 pm. You can also contact them by email or you can use the live chat option. eBay, just like Amazon offers customization to its users that have accounts set up with the website. eBay remembers products that I previously viewed and updates users of similar items as well. When I access my account, the first thing I see is new video games that are out in the market and new/old movies. When you make a purchase on eBay, the agreement of the purchase is made valid. It lists the item you ordered, shipping address, cost of the item, and payment options. PayPal is the preferred method of payment due to the great security they have in their system. You can also use any major credit card as well. `One of the ways eBay market itself is by using commercials to gain awareness to the website. They use a popular item and build a commercial around that product. From Jeans to cell phones, they have used them all. Here is a commercial about tablets . YouTube is another outlet that eBay could use. It creates awareness of the site for people who may or may not understand what eBay is about. Another strategy the use is Google ad-word and ad-sense features. If I search for the Apple iPod on Google’s search, a link to eBay’s webpage will appear on the right side of the search page. Google also will post ads on other websites pages as well. eBay has a competitive advantage over a lot of its competition. eBay created a new business model that Amazon eventually copied. Although rivals like Yahoo! and Amazon attempted to gain market share from eBay by launching their own auction sites, eBay's ability to gain critical mass gave it the competitive edge it needed to stave off its rivals. Despite Amazon's attempt to lure customers with guarantees of product quality and Yahoo!'s offering of commission-free auctions, eBay attracted more sellers than any other auction site simply because it had the most buyers. Below are eBay’s core privacy principles:

1. We will not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes and will only disclose your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and/or with your explicit consent. 2. Third parties are not permitted to sell the information we provide to them, to market directly to you, or to disclose it in any other way without your explicit consent. 3.
