Internet Technology, Marketing, and Security (Ebay)
The company I will talk about for this paper is eBay. eBay is the world 's online marketplace; a place for buyers and sellers to come together and trade almost anything. With more than 97 million active users globally, eBay is the world 's largest online marketplace, where practically anyone can buy and sell practically anything. Founded in 1995, eBay connects a diverse and passionate community of individual buyers and sellers, as well as small businesses. Their collective impact on ecommerce is staggering: In 2010, the total value of goods sold on eBay was $62 billion -- more than $2,000 every second. I have been interested in eBay since I got first debit card and was able to shop online. eBay’s stock is currently valued at $28.23. It has a market cap of 36.44 billion. It biggest competitor is Amazon, which they happen to come second to in competition.
As we all know, eBay is a marketplace on where you find anything from a cell phone charger all the way up to a brand new car. Product information is listed the pages of the sellers (stores). I was looking for information on the tablet device called Toshiba Thrive. Not only does it describe the overview of product, it shows the specifications as well. eBay also shows similar products as well when viewing like products. \ eBay has a lot of ways for consumers can contact them regarding customer support or general questions. There telephone number is 1-866-540-3299. Representatives are available from 5:00am to 10:00 pm. You can also contact them by email or you can use the live chat option. eBay, just like Amazon offers customization to its users that have accounts set up with the website. eBay remembers products that I previously viewed and updates users of similar items as well. When I access my account, the first thing I see is new video games that are out in the market and new/old movies.
When you make a purchase on eBay, the agreement of the purchase is made valid. It lists the item you ordered, shipping

What Pierre Omidyar created, in his San Jose living room to help his then-girlfriend collect Pez dispensers, back in September 1995 has turned into a very successful online business empire. Initially an auction based marketplace for the sale of goods and services for individuals, eBay is now all about e-commerce, that is about buying and selling products and services on the Internet via electronic methods (using the World Wide Web). It is classified as business-to-business, business to consumer and consumer-to-consumer. eBay has successfully implemented all these three categories in its business. An overwhelming amount of eBay's success is directly attributed to its passionate, loyal and evangelistic customers, who refuse to do business anywhere else but on the de facto auction site of the Internet.…

The company is just a medium for buying and selling of goods and services. In true sense the company never handles the transactions or products which are being sold on the website. The main use or objective of the business is to make sure that the tangible goods which are sold on the website can be traded in a safe and a secure manner without inconvenience to the consumers. The most important role for eBay in this entire process is to simulate and maintain the strength of the various virtual ties of the organisation which can lead to safe and secure transaction of the…
