Innocence In S. E. Hinton's The Outsiders

S. E. Hinton’s “The Outsiders” first made wave to the public in April 24, 1967. Hinton introduces Ponyboy as a boy who likes to read and watch sunsets, anything but out of the ordinary for a greaser. In the novel Hinton presents the loss of innocence between Ponyboy and Johnny, and the tumbleweeds of events that occur after it. The novel starts out with Ponyboy exciting the cinema into the darkness of the night, alone, which is frowned upon in the greaser world. Two main rules for a Greaser include; they always stick together, and never get caught. As Ponyboy walks home alone, he perceives he’s being stalked, truth behold a group of Socs pop out of the dark, and are quick to commence harassing Ponyboy. Darry soon gets word of what has happened
