Information technology (IT) is the using of computer in collecting, storing and spreading data in the business. Is the technology that helps companies change business by allowing them to use new method. (Understanding business Nickels &Hugh 7thedition 520) Service industries are industries which deal in supply if intangible product such as transport industry, school, and health care center. Competitive Advantage Is an advantage that a firm has over its competitors, allowing it to generate greater sales or margins and/or retains more customers than its competition. (www.onvestopedia.com). example in service industry National Microfinance Bank (NMB) have many branches it Tanzania in almost every District which give the bank more customers compared to other bank. 2. 2.1 Adoption of Technological (IT) in Tanzania service Industries Technological adoption / the use of information from other countries “developed counties” started early in 1960s to 1970s but in Tanzania the use of Information Technology came late The first computer in Tanzania wasinstalled in the Ministry of Finance in 1965. By 1974 there were seven computers in the country and the Ministry of Finance had already acquired a new computer. But this adoption of technology in Tanzania face some early problems which were * Lack of Qualified Indigenous Personnel
Installations were totally dependent on foreign experts. In some cases these experts were not adequatelyqualified or experienced. Applications tended not to be properly documented and thus could run only if theseforeign experts were around; when they left the country the applications stopped functioning. * Lack of capital
Many of the business organizations never had enough capital to invest in computer and others instruments which are used in Information Technology. * Poor response from people
Many people didn’t respond in that use of Information technology mainly because of not being aware of how to use it and what is its important.
2.0 The issues of technological adoption on the use of IT practices by the consumers and business enterprises Even thou there was that challenges the IT developed but the adoption of use of information technology faces situation in both customers and in an enterprises which are; * Consumer
In customer side the adoption of information technology was an advantages to customer like simplifying the way of doing work and make it quick example the customer of Precision Air, The company have advanced the use of Information Technology to the point in which the customer of precision can make booking ticket online. http://www.travelstart.co.tz/ Also the customers have been helped by reducing the waiting time in the queue example bank customer by the use of ATM card can reduce the waiting time to stand so to be served, they just operate themselves. This adoption of Information Technology was also problems to customer, but how? Security issue some people can just use peoples ATM card and draw money without the authorization of the owner. Also there is no privacy because the use email in sending information must been seen by the sever of the mail, in short it can give information to people who was not supposed to see and can be use it in bad way. * Enterprise
