Before the Industrial revolution people lived in rural areas such as farmlands, small towns, and villages. The families would work for themselves, all food planted was consumed by each and every family. Children would help to plant crops, churn butter, milk cows, and tend farm animals. Some children wouldn't go to school because it wasn't obligatory, there was no law that stated the commandment of kids going to school. Some of the kids never even assisted school they were illiterate, they weren't able to read nor write.
There were no jobs available for those who were in need, Instead if they needed something like clothes, tools, etc., they would trade with fellow neighbors. The tools that were traded were man made, There were no machines to make them in the old years, just plain handmade tools. Poverty was also a cause of high death rates. People who were too poor didn't have enough to trade and didn't have enough to consume. There was less reproduction as well, more death rates meant less babies. There were few babies who barely made it through their first year and then died of poor
