Did you know that the most powerful terristic group could be only a few steps away from becoming a state according to the United Nations? Who are they you may ask? ISIS that’s who. This is a very big issue that is going on in the world. A lot of people don't know much about ISIS; I am hoping to change that. Throughout this paper I am going to touch on a few things; why I chose to research ISIS, how the media portrays ISIS, what they stand for, and the future of ISIS itself.
One of the reason I chose the topic of ISIS for my news analysis is because during my time here at ISU I took a class on the Middle East and we covered ISIS a little bit. Although it was short it got my mind whirling, I wanted to do more research, this assignment was the perfect excuse. ISIS is known as the Islamic state, they are a not just a group of crazy people but they are want to be recognized as a real state by the United Nations. To be a state, you need a controlled territory, people, and a form of laws. They have a controlled territory, people, and laws; they also have many people to implement the laws. The big difference between ISIS and a place like Illinois is that the laws that they are implementing are religious based. For example, there is a law to not drink do drugs simply because their religion bands it. There are many laws that ISIS implements that are similar to ones we have in the United States, some not so much. Their rules are controlled by religion something that doesn’t control our country.
