I Deserve This Grade
I believe that I deserve this grade because I always attend class and only missed two during the semester. I rarely show up late and and I am usually ready to take notes during our lectures. Although, I do not participate in class, I am surely attentive and a respectful listener towards my teacher and classmate’s questions or opinions. I know that in the future I should be more active in class to benefit my knowledge and grades. However, I believe this grade is a reasonable

I will also be taking attendance for the remainder of the semester which will be considered 50% of your participation grade. I will consider sports travel when appropriately notified by your coach. The balance of your participation grade will result from your homework being submitted timely.…

The class participation grade is determined in the following manner. In order to get full credit, 100 points, you must do the following: arrive to class on time, return from break on time, stay until class is dismissed, put your cell phone/other electronic devices away (unless there is a situation that you have alerted me of that requires keeping your phone on), participate meaningfully in class discussion (e.g. ask questions, respond to questions), stay awake (sunglasses should be off in the classroom, and hoodies should be down); basically, all this boils down to acting like a professional. 10 points are deducted for each…

In the article, The Case against Grades, Alfie Kohn talks about how the grading system is deflecting the actual purpose of why students are interested in classes. He speaks on how grades tend to diminish students and create a preference for what a student has to aim for in his or hers course. I myself have experienced this in my academic life.…

I like to think that I met expectations for producing quality work. Now, professional expertise was different. Since I had interned several times in an actual corporation I had a general feel for professional expertise and didn’t learn much from the class on it. Thanks to real world experience I exceeded expectations for expertise. Time management was similar, we had plenty of time to accomplish the coursework and to make sure it was at least decent quality. I scored this somewhere in between the two others, I wasn’t just meeting expectations but I also wasn’t soaring above them either. This class was really informative for my internship that I’ll be going back to in a few weeks. First of all I actually have a resume that I can list my work experience on, second, I can write clearer and more professional emails or documentation. Hopefully by being more professional and displaying all the information I’ve learned from this class I can first get a raise since I’ve been interning for 3 years and it's more of a real job at this point. And second I can use this internship and information to spring myself to a well paying job that I truly enjoy after…

The best participation grades will go to those who consistently demonstrate an excellent command of the material; who volunteer to participate frequently; who respond to my questions accurately; who comment thoughtfully, and who make insightful connections between the course materials and our world, including issues and ideas raised in other courses. Simply attending class without active, intelligent participation, as defined above, will yield a C- for participation. If you plan to miss class, you must let me know the reason before class by email. Failure to do so will lower your participation grade. So will more than four absences. More than seven absences will lead to a failing grade for the…

Just like Newton’s third law, for every action there is an equal opposite reaction. I believe this to be true in a good student. If you put in good work then that work will react with a good response. Even if the grades weren’t represented as much as the student would have liked them to be. Understanding your errors and paying attention to good feedback shows a commitment to learn. At the end of the day all students are in school to learn. Sadly most of the feedback as students we get is a letter or number. This fact brings me to the backbone of every student, the teachers.…

It was around this point that I began to lose my motivation to do any class work whatsoever, and my grade suffered for it. One day, Mr. Brown held me after class and told me that I had the lowest grade out of any of his students that he has ever taught. With that as my motivation, I studied long and hard to get my grade up, and in the end I had barely passed the class with a sixty-nine point eight average.…

An article was published in The New York Times by Max Roosevelt titled “Student Expectations Seen as Causing Grades Disputes.” The focus of this editorial was to highlight what is often seen as a disruption to grades and our educational system. Many students these days feel they are entitled to higher grades because they did what was only expected of them which do not involve the greatest effort. In my opinion, a student that subjects themselves to minimum effort should receive the minimum grade without any complaints. In past experience, I have realized that students fail to recognize their creative abilities which cause typical mind-sets and projections. Professor Marshall Grossman of the University of Maryland presumes that he will receive complaints whenever he returns assignments to students; many feel as though they are privileged in this manner. Grossman’s point is outlined relatively throughout the article, providing useful information through personal experience based on his observations. A recent study by researchers at the University of California, Irvine, highlights his objective whereas 40 percent of surveyors believe that they should receive a B just for completing the required reading.…

In this essay there is a well-deserved 5 and maybe a 6. I think I deserve this because it is a well-developed and organized essay. It is also developed clearly, organizes ideas…

I’d be lying to you if I said right of the top of my head, I deserve nothing less than A. Yes, I do believe I deserve a good grade, but to be exactly sure on what that grade would be; I don’t know. I’ve strived in this course for nothing but the best. I’ve become more fluent with my words, and my writing has indeed strengthened. I’ve improved my writing skills, I’ve learned critique skills, and skills on how to be more focused in what I am trying to say. With the three required essays, I took away different skills from each individual essay.…
