In the essay “Tweens: Ten Going On Sixteen” written by Kay S. Hymowitz the author argues that preadolescent children between the ages of 8-12 years , who are also called tweens , are going through early social maturation . The author argues that tweens become teenagers without undergoing a preadolescent period .
