America is praised to be a place that is fair and just. However, no country is perfect and one of the more unfavorable aspects of America is a problem that has been a problem that goes back to the 1600s. The issue Americans face are within the legal systems and are caused by the biases of judges and jurors across American courts. America is not alone in this problem, but for a first world country this issue is more common than it should be. In America’s modern day society there are many cases of discrimination based on physical appearances in court, as there were in Arthur Miller’s play The Crucible, which needs to be stopped, because it is in violation of Civil Rights Act of 1964.…
Between democratic and republican those two groups are the main reason why the earth keeps on spinning but are driven by jealousy that they know more than the other and will never stop spinning due to the communication between the two, these groups have two different believes all the time which gives everyone a plot to look forward to like how in the story ‘The Crucible’ Abigail threatens the other girls in the story not say the truth, other than what she has already revealed, and we learn that Abigail is a treacherous person. She tells Proctor that Betty is not really sick which gives the people who are reading the story more than just one plot because of the options about the truth and false information that goes with the story but not…
One of the most common characteristic societies throughout history is the fear of unknown things. Natures of human are weary of thing which is different, and the Puritans’ actions during the events that appeared in The Crucible have no difference. Many characters in the Crucible were forced into horrible situations where their beliefs, morals, and overall faith were put into the trial. The reputation, intolerance and hysteria are the main themes surround in the novel, and through those phenomena that show clearly of struggles of human nature. This is what happened to John Proctor, Elizabeth and Abigail when they were in the trial of Salem.…
Theocracy is a method of government in which a divine being is formally recognized as the public Head of state and community officials are viewed as divinely guided. In a theocratic civilization, God himself is thought of as the head of state. Conscious of how a theocracy can destroy a society, Miller intends to imply – through his portrayal of John Proctor and Reverend Hale – the thematic idea that theocracy is essentially blind and corrupt. One indication of Miller’s intent, in this respect, is his formation of John…

Are you loyal? Loyalty is the quality of being loyal to someone or something. Loyalty is being displayed all through act three. There are multiple comparisons that comes to mind when i read this play and when i think about modern day events. Loyalty is a very strong word, everyone is not loyal. Most time when we think of loyalty we think of being loyal to your boy or girl friend but that is not that case all the time. Loyalty is standing up and acting on what you believe in no matter the circumstance.…

Learning and speaking the truth are not always the easiest things to accept. In The Crucible accepting the truth is one of the main issues that occur throughout the play. Though everybody now knows that most or all depending on what the reader wants to believe were not witches, and consequently died for something they never did. Many characters lie throughout the play for their own reasons some to due with land while the others for more personal reasons. The death of many were caused by the others failing to accept the truth.…
Arthur Miller is a great author that uses many forms of syntax, figurative language, and diction to enhance his writing throughout The Crucible. Miller uses figurative language throughout The Crucible, to put emphasis on certain ideas and things. Miller also uses diction in The Crucible to show that the story is taking place in the past and to give the story a more biblical feel to it. One other thing that Arthur Miller does really well is his use of syntax. He uses syntax throughout The Crucible to show the intelligence levels of different characters. Miller uses these three different things in combination throughout The Crucible to enhance the story and to tell the story of the witch craft trials in an insightful way.…
Have you ever wondered if witches were actually real? In the play “The Crucible,” people thought they were real. In this story the mass hysteria that ensues is comparable to the Red Scare of the 1950s. In these similar conflicts people were scared of one another and falsely accused innocent people. We can learn something from these conflicts though. “The Crucible” has many events and themes that can apply to real life.…
This play suggests a means to salvation as Everyman enters the kingdom of heaven by performing good-deeds; and that death comes to everybody. Everyman has to clear his book of reckoning before he can progress to heaven, and one of the things the play considers is how humans will be judged after they have died. God is furious that humans are living a superficial life on earth, focusing on wealth and riches, without worrying about the greater judgment that is to come - and, notably, Everyman's own judgment - his ability to understand his life - becomes gradually more and more enlightened on his…
Through my time being with the church I have never questioned or doubted the sacredness of our work once, but recently I have come to find myself realizing that the duty performed by reverends of this sanction are ill minded in determining the wrongfulness of a fellow towns member’s affairs. I am now considering leaving the church; I must record all of my reasons for doing so in this journal.…
