Buddhism and Hinduism share some differences and similarities in beliefs and the practice of mediation. Hinduism is believed to have no known founder, no central authority, no universal texts and no widely known creed but it has a caste system. Hindus believe that everyone has their place in the world and they cannot overstep their roles. On the other hand, Buddhism is viewed more like or philosophy and not a religion. Due to this thinking it put everyone on equal grounds. The caste system is one of the core beliefs of Hinduism. It is viewed as a type of social structure that divides individuals in classes on the basis of an inherited social status. It divides individuals into five major classes, the Brahman, Kshatriya, Vaishya, Shudra, and "untouchables," also referred to as Dalits. The individual in each class has a religious duty or dharma to contribute in, to maintain an orderly society. In contrast, Buddha strongly disagreed with the Hindu caste system because he believed it was unjust and that there should not be a difference in the classes of people and due to this it gave everybody an equal chance. Despite their differences and beliefs, Buddhism and Hinduism are alike in many ways and have had a great influence on each other throughout the centuries. Similarly, both religions practice mediation which they believe it will bring them closer to…
A state of nature; a life where no governable state exists and no one possesses political power. ‘Why do we not live in a state of nature?’ some may ask. Why must we be under the government’s power? The first step in understanding why we have something, like the government, is to consider what life would be like without it. There has been many different concepts over time as to what a ‘state of nature’ really is and if life really would be awful without it. Initially, Hobbes believed that in a state of nature, all men would turn ‘nasty and brutish’ and life would turn into a never-ending cycle of crime and war as there would be no one there to stop us. On the contrary, Locke believed that man would be content in a state of nature, that life would be the opposite of awful and we would act morally towards each other due to the social contract. Thirdly, Rousseau thought that if we ever found ourselves in a state of nature, men would turn to savages, but would be happy with it.…

The modern view of Hinduism today believes that all living things have a soul. Today there are many that believe that there is no such thing as reincarnation or hell. The practices of today involve not being violent, having good behavior and a love for all people. Some of the newer discoveries that have been made today have helped form these views. Buddhism has also evolved and developed more with time. Many consider Buddhism to be a philosophy, instead of a religion. The way that Buddhism is practiced today usually fluctuates depending on the region. In the western regions traditional practices seemed to change more toward the western traditions and the increasing dominance of science. Giving to the poor, helping those that are in need, meditation, reciting mantras and chants and going on retreats are the shared practices in all of the regions. The trend of the west is to practice Buddhist chants as well as meditation. In the East, the traditional and newer practices are not that much different but the practice of giving up all worldly possessions and wandering has been…

Each Philosophy has its own view of what human nature should be. Daoism believes that human nature is good, Legalism believes that human nature is bad and people need to be controlled by laws and punishments in order to prevent them form doing wrong. Confucianism believes that human nature is neutral, and its is what you do in life that determines whether it is good or…
Hinduism and Buddhism both had an immense effect on ancient civilizations such as China and India. They changed people’s outlook on life, both say that one should be good and follow his role in life; this gave people a purpose to work. While Hinduism believed in reincarnation by a person deeds in the last life, Buddhism focused on breaking the reincarnation cycle. Hinduism and Buddhism both believe in the concept of reincarnation but Hinduism focuses on climbing the levels of the caste system while Buddhism focuses on breaking the cycle and becoming one with the universe. They both spread to different areas but by similar methods, and they both encouraged one to follow their job in life, leading to people following a specific system of society. The effects of these religions made much of the East the way it is, even today it still affects these areas.…
In the book Divergent, there were five factions. The names were abnegation, amity, dauntless, erudite and candor. Each faction was formed by a group of people who blamed human’s nature for destroying the earth. Erudite was formed by those who blamed ignorance for the war that had occurred in the past. Abnegation was formed by those who blamed selflessness for human natures fault. Candor was formed by those who blamed duplicity and deception for human nature's faults. Amity was formed by those who blamed war and fighting for human natures faults, and dauntless was formed by those who blamed cowardice for human natures faults. The dauntless protected the city from the inside and outside. They formed Dauntless around the principle of eliminating fear believing bravery will lead to a more perfect society. Every faction had a role in the city the dauntless had 3 main things, characteristics, physical traits and functions that made them different from the others.…

Most of us will be aware of the principles of karma. Karma is a central belief in Buddhism that nothing happened by accident; what happens to you is as a result of your own personal doing. Buddhists believe that good deeds create good karma and a good future. Clearly therefore, bad deeds create bad karma and a difficult future. They believe that this is why there is so much inequality. Someone said to Buddha "What is the cause, what is the reason, O Lord, that we find amongst mankind the healthy and the diseased, those lacking influence and the powerful, the poor and the rich, and the ignorant and the wise?"…
Man is inarguably the simplest yet most complex creation whose concrete nature is still unknown. Once upon a time, individuals hit a snafu in regards to whether the true nature of mankind is intrinsically good or evil. At one end of the spectrum, the advocators of congenital human righteousness assert that as man is the creation of God, he must be pure and just by nature. Alternately, those who regard humankind as essentially foul hold the beliefs that man was created to sin and corrupt. However, how can one possibly presume that the estimated seven billion people on this planet are either entirely good or bad? It is impossible, and the fact of the matter is that humans are simply human.…
In particular, these two religions, like many other world religions of the east and west concentrate on human ethics through belief, worship, and practice. Similarities and differences are evident in both theory and practice between the two religions. Buddhism teaches that morality is something we create for ourselves based purely on what is found to be beneficial rather than objectively right or good. The Society for the Promotion of Buddhism agrees when it states that “There is no discrimination between right and wrong, but people make a distinction for their own convenience”. The Buddhist Precepts are sometimes compared to the Ten Commandments of the Abrahamic religions such as Christianity. However, the Precepts are not commandments, but principles, and it is up to Buddhists to determine how to apply these principles in their lives. Buddhism is greatly attractive because it sets humans free to take charge of their lives without fear of any powerful third party intervention. It leaves room for a range of interpretations. It gives full control of the person to conduct their life without fear of punishment or desire for reward by an external agent. It tells the person that their actions, thoughts, and speech are their own…
Different societies held widely varying beliefs and values, but their cultural and religious traditions offered guidance on moral, religious, political, and social issues. Jainism and Manichaeism involved becoming spiritually in tune with one-self and nature while Confucianism involved preparing individuals for an idealistic future in government. Persia and India shared similar beliefs when it came to sacrifices and values with ancient Aryans. Philosophical and religious beliefs were similar in that they both promoted release from the past strains of social classes. The influence of government, cultures, and societies within these religions made a significant difference in how people lived, thought, and act.…
