The four external considerations for developing an integrated information management system for a human service organization are economic, sociological, political, and technological. Economic is made up of funding sources, contributors, referral sources, consumers, and competitors. The sociological includes consideration relative to the community and larger political subdivisions within which the agency functions. The political domain includes regulatory and accrediting bodies, including the agency’s board of directors. The technological domain encompasses all the areas of professional and technical advancement that must be monitored to ensure that the agency remains on the cutting edge as new developments and innovations emerge. The six internal considerations are organizational purpose, mission, and philosophy, organizational planning, organizational operations, human resources, technological resources, and financial resources. Revisiting organizational mission, purpose, and philosophy serves as a reminder that there is a long-range vision around which the organization has been structured, and it is important to develop indicators that will help decision makers understand how the agency and its programs are progressing toward that vision. The organizational planning framework is of vital importance to the design of the management information system. Review of plans will reveal strategic, long-term, and program-planning goals, objectives, and activities. If these plans are well designed, they should contribute to moving the agency toward its mission and purpose, and they should also suggest the types of data and information that will be needed to determine if these plans are on track. A review of organizational operations will be useful in understanding where the departments, divisions, or units are in relation to established expectations. Indicators that measure efforts and accomplishments should be incorporated into the information system. Questions…

Nonprofit organizations prepare grant proposals based on the eligibility requirements, and guidelines set forth by grantors to fund various programs. The key to winning grants is to ensure the proposal includes important information about the program goals and objectives, the organizational background, and community needs among other factors. I would like to start my Human Service work in a counseling position. I am a very good listener. I have people that love to come and talk to me about their problems or situations. I also help them to find better ways to express their thoughts and emotions when solving their problems. I am studying for my Associate Degree in Human Service at University of Phoenix. I chose this field because of a personal life experience I had at the age of nine. I also feel that I have the right attitude and personality for a counseling job. I am compassionate toward others and have empathy toward their problems. I know that these situations happen to the best of us. I am able to connect with others even if their experiences and mine differ greatly. I appreciate their own value in life and want to help them to overcome obstacles they encounter. I am tolerant of other’s view (and this was learned with life’s experience) and I am willing to share my own experiences to help other people be more comfortable with their own situation. I am generally very accepting of others and friendly toward people. I want to start by interning at Georgia’s Department of human resource in Atlanta to get the feel of the positions that I will be applying for in 2014. This internship will allow me to work directly with Social Workers, Case Managers and Therapists. I will put my positive personality and style to work for these companies and organizations by giving them a person that loves helping people. I have not met my qualifications of the jobs that I am applying for, so the experience I get will help greatly when I graduate in October 2013. I plan on continuing my education after I graduate and aim to get my Bachelor’s Degree, I understand that the Associate Degree may be me in the door, but a BA will keep me. I want to work in a team of faculty and employers and feel that I can help such a group increase their sense of community. I have even thought about going back to my hometown and helping my…

Salt Water has recently acquired a new company which will become a third division. The new Couch division is a small manufacturer of lawnmower motors. It has been owned and managed by the one person for 40 years. The prior owner treated all employees as part of his family. The company was noted for the lack of a ‘them and us’ attitude between employees and management, and there was free and open communication between all staff. Unfortunately, Couch is not a strong performer; the lawnmower market is in decline and profits have slipped.…
