Hrm/531 Week 8 High School Rounds
After speaking with RA Ryan regarding duty night, I was able to get a better understanding of the responsibilities of an RA when he or she is doing rounds. Doing rounds is essential when it comes to keeping the residence halls safe for all students and creating a better atmosphere for everyone overall. Duty night is important because many issues are addressed, such as, drugs/alcohol on campus, intruders, loud music, lock outs or anything else that may disturb the community. It is important to keep the community in order because after all, the residence halls are the second homes of many students.
The General responsibilities of the RA on duty are to make sure buildings are in order, making sure there are no violations, no safety concerns, and to make sure that there is nothing out of the ordinary. The RA is on duty from 8:45pm until 8:00am the next morning. During rounds, the RA must walk through the halls to keep an eye out for anything that is not normal. Additionally, during this time, the RA should also be aware of the duty phone and answer any calls from residents. These calls could be relating to lockouts or any other issues that students may have. During rounds there are different sets depending on the day. For example, Sunday through Wednesday there are two sets. One

Even if the RA is not on rounds, they still have to be in charge of fire drills. There is one fire drill a month and the RA’s will sign up for either team A or team B. Each RA will be assigned different tasks; someone will pull the alarm and someone will knock on doors. If you are an RA on duty you will be the keyer since you have the keys already for rounds, but you still have to do your set after the fire drill. In the event that an alarm goes off and the alarm that sounds is not part of a drill, the RA should get everyone out of the building, contact police services and Pro-Staff, and get out of the building as soon as

The number of accidents involving children who fall out of the bed accounts for 1.8 million visits to the emergency room and the more serious involves over 400,000 hospital admissions including 450 deaths in the United States each year. The accidents not only affect the United States but globally as well. In England, the number of hospital admissions due to falls has increased. The number of admission to hospitals in England exceeded 450,000 which are comparable to the United States (Home Safety, n.d.). These numbers are increasing which is causing a greater need for child safety. In addition to the emotional effect a fall can have on a family, the increased cost to insurance companies,…

Comcast should focus on knowing our customer profitability. For example, Comcast and AT&T Broadband acquisitions are done for the customers, the buyers of Comcast saw a profit in obtaining more customers. Our executives must understand even at the local level that some customers are more profitable than others. Most time we are more focused on the products, such as home networking, CHSI speeds, ect. If we focus our attention on the demopgraphic, economical locations that have the higher profitability then we can geer our services towards those who will maximize our revenue.…

The guideline you found matches perfectly with your PICOT question. You did an amazing job on this journal club assignment. I honestly could not find anything wrong with your submission. The chosen guideline gave great recommendations on what staff should do if they are in a violent or aggressive situation. There was one statement that I thought was very important and something we should all remember as nurses. “Encourage service users to recognize their own triggers and early warning signs of violence and aggression and other vulnerabilities, and to discuss and negotiate their wishes should they become agitated” (National Guideline Clearinghouse, 2015). In my opinion, giving those in mental health options not only benefits patients, but staff…

To ensure that no discrimination exists when accommodations are requested due to religious and disability requirements, one must first be knowledgeable of the law itself. When reviewing requests for accommodations, individuals must submit the appropriate documentation to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) coordinator which should include recommendations from a medical provider when the request is due to a disability. The key word in the ADA is “reasonable”. Employers are to provide reasonable accommodations; therefore, it is critical to evaluate the recommendations prior to making a decision. Also, never tell an employee that you can not provide accommodations. If the request is one that is unreasonable, present an alternate solution to the request.…

I would like to start my Human Service work in a counseling position. I am a very good listener. I have people that love to come and talk to me about their problems or situations. I also help them to find better ways to express their thoughts and emotions when solving their problems. I am studying for my Associate Degree in Human Service at University of Phoenix. I chose this field because of a personal life experience I had at the age of nine. I also feel that I have the right attitude and personality for a counseling job. I am compassionate toward others and have empathy toward their problems. I know that these situations happen to the best of us. I am able to connect with others even if their experiences and mine differ greatly. I appreciate their own value in life and want to help them to overcome obstacles they encounter. I am tolerant of other’s view (and this was learned with life’s experience) and I am willing to share my own experiences to help other people be more comfortable with their own situation. I am generally very accepting of others and friendly toward people. I want to start by interning at Georgia’s Department of human resource in Atlanta to get the feel of the positions that I will be applying for in 2014. This internship will allow me to work directly with Social Workers, Case Managers and Therapists. I will put my positive personality and style to work for these companies and organizations by giving them a person that loves helping people. I have not met my qualifications of the jobs that I am applying for, so the experience I get will help greatly when I graduate in October 2013. I plan on continuing my education after I graduate and aim to get my Bachelor’s Degree, I understand that the Associate Degree may be me in the door, but a BA will keep me. I want to work in a team of faculty and employers and feel that I can help such a group increase their sense of community. I have even thought about going back to my hometown and helping my…
